Just wrapped a new personal project...

In Christmas of 2014 my wife and I visited Granada, Spain. We fell in love with the city and the sounds of distant guitars echoing off the white walls of the Albaicin. We stumbled across a set of performers playing guitars and singing at Mirador San Nicolas as the sun rose behind them. This moment would prompt me to return a year and a half later to film the process of Flamenco guitars being built.

Bernd Martin was kind enough to allow me to film in his workshop for a few days as they hand-crafted a few guitars.

All songs are written and performed by Luis Mariano.

Fantastico. I'm not a fan of B&W but it kept me washing the whole time. Not easy for an ADS guy. lol

Was B&W the original idea? I would have love to see the colors of Granada.

Thank you Douglas... My original intention was not black and white. While I was editing, one of my favorite compositions was ruined by a blue bottle in the background... It was just so out of place, but as quickly as things were moving, I didn't have time to move it... By converting the image to black and white, it suddenly drew me into the focus of the shot. Right then I knew it had to be black and white. I was contemplating starting and ending in color, but decided to keep it uniform throughout.

Granada is truly a beautiful place. I recommend going there if you have never been...

Here are a few of the shots in color so you can see what it would have looked like... :)
