i just got my Epic a few weeks ago and decided to test it on a still shoot job i had...
It's a book cover for a small publishing company called 2Leaf Press...
The title of the book is Morning Side Of The Hill and takes place in Morningside Heights in Harlem NYC...
In keeping with the title of the book i wanted to shoot a sunrise shot...
But shooting in Harlem meant doing a sunrise shot looking east across rooftops and i didn't have a rooftop in Harlem...
i did have access to a rooftop in Queens (access not permission - you can see where this is going)...
So i shot in Queens at sunset looking West and made it see like sunrise in Harlem looking east...
i found out that the author Ezra Fitz loved Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai which is one of my favorite films as well...
So i decided to do something in the spirit of that poster...
Here's how it turned out...
Shot with a 25mm Zeiss ZF2 Duclos Mod Lens at 5K and a small LED light...
Overall it was a successful guerrilla shoot...
Success as i define it in any guerrilla shoot is the following...
1 • No one was harassed, chased off or arrested
2 • No gear was lost, damaged or stolen
3 • We got footage we can use
i think the shot turned out great and both the author and the publisher loves the shots
Some shots are landscape for a possible wraparound cover and some a portrait for the cover...
