  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Vaxis Storm Wireless Streaming System

wow guys !!!! got mine yesterday !! the build quality is really good. met my expectations. out of the box was working within 4-5 minutes and I cant see any latency. Thanks Chris & of course Cong and Julie delivered exactly when promised and great communication through out the entire process.

now on to testing this with my tilta gravity once its back from nashville for the weekend.

I have received my 500 ft two days ago, I didn't tried it yet but the building looks so serious !

Received my 1200ft kit today, initial range test are very promising.

The receiver is massive compared to the 500ft, but the build quality is excellent, and it has plenty of mounting points for various configurations.

The only thing about the system that I do not like is how difficult it is to fully tighten, and keep the antennas tightened.

I don't know if most of you are aware, but the way a video transmitter disperses heat is largely through the antennas, they essentially act as extra heat sinks, and if antennas are not firmly affixed, the transmitter runs the risk of burning out.

The antennas shouldn't be getting hot. I already reached out to GM and they are gonna send you out a replacement, so expect to be contacted asap.

Sorry Chris,

My antennas are not getting hot, I just wanted to express my concern about how difficult it is to tighten them, and give a friendly bit of advice to everyone to make sure theirs are firmly screwed on while the device is on to avoid burning out the transmitter.

first few tests are really good.. I Got the 1200 and an additional 500 rx - the 500 rx is performing exceptionally well! I am really impressed so far - testing more on friday.

Has anyone had issues with their Vaxis unit's output signal and their production monitors? My Vaxis 1200 and 500 work fine with my SmallHD AC7, but it has two issues with my TV Logic LVM-173W. First, SDI does not connect at all. Even without camera connection, usually the unit will display a "Searching" menu text. I don't get anything at all. Monitor states no signal. Second problem is with HDMI. The image is all pink.

I've ruled out the monitor ports, output signal settings, and cables by connecting the same cable directly from the weapon and the image is good on both hdmi and sdi. So, I'm thinking theres a compatibility issue with the Vaxis units? Both the monitor and the Vaxis Storm spec sheets indicate that 1080/60 should be fine, among others. I've tried different settings just in case. However, in the case of the SDI, that wouldnt matter, as there is no signal to begin with.

Unfortunately, I dont have another SDI monitor to test at the moment to rule out the Vaxis' SDI output port having a hardware issue.

Anyway, if anyone has TV logic production monitors or similar production monitors like the pannys that can confirm they have no SDI/HDMI issues, that'd be greatly appreciated. Still happy with the purchase, just need to figure this out and not have to buy a different 17". Will hit up Vaxis support as well, but I thought I'd tap the trusty reduser resource first.

I've tested on a wide variety of monitors (don't have any TV logics) and haven't had any issues with single not working. For the TV logic, try switching from 1080 to 720p to see if you get an image. Are you experiencing a pink signal from the HDMI on the SmallHD as well or just the TV Logic?

No the smallHD doesnt have the pink signal. However, the camera direct to the tvlogic or a parlinx arrow+ to tvlogic has no issues. I picked up another monitor to get me through this week's shoot. New monitor worked fine with the Vaxis on both HDMI and SDI. Strange. Both the Vaxis and TVlogic work perfectly when paired with other equipment, just not with each other.

I tried changing to 720p. No dice.

Hey All!

Have any of the Vaxis 1200 users found alternative mounting solutions for your Vaxis Transmitter beyond the magic arm? I'm looking to mount mine to the rear of the camera in between the body and the V-Mount battery utilizing a solution like this. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1083688-REG/teradek_11_0760_dual_v_mount_battery_plate.html

However, I'm assuming that the NP-F970 Battery plate on the Transmitter will get in the way of dropping into this existing Teradek system. Have any of you attempted to remove the NP-F970 plate or have you found any alternative mounting solutions other than the magic arm? Curious to see pictures of your setups if you have them.

Thanks!

this weekend doing 2 camera shoot with one camera on my vaxis 1200 system and the other camera on teradek 500 - I will report back what everyone on set says.. very interested to actually use it side by side in production in the same environment.

all my tests so far have been impressive to say the least.

Hey guys. I got a 1200ft v-mount system through this group buy but the receiver is too big and heavy for my needs right now. If anyone wants another system, or just the receiver, please let me know, I'll sell mine. Awesome unit though, very impressed.

There will be an upgrade/downgrade option for those who partiocsyed in the group buy!! So stay tuned!! Just around the corner

Anyone knows if Vaxis' got a transmitter like this? Something that fits directly on the camera's v-mount and then receives the v-mount battery
