  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus

Now what am I gonna do with my Bartechs?

Seeing as even a bartech with the Red motor couldn't perform at a professional level, I went back to Bartech and Heden. I think you will be glad you have them.

I had a Preston paired with the RED motor and found it unusable as well, until I found out that there was a special cable with some sort of different amperage that made it work correctly. Might have been the same issue for your BFD

I had the right cable. It worked great for iris with a preston or a bartech, just didn't have enough balls to actually use on cine lenses. Of course I looked up the specs after I bought it and it has about half the torque of a Heden m26.

does anyone know what the thread size is on the gimbal adapters that come with the unit? I'm trying to use the hand units with my ronin 2. I noticed tilta is selling modified versions called "Nucleus-M Hand Grips Universal Gimbal Adapter with Rosettes (L/R)" not sure if those would remedy my issue. If anyone can recommend any adapters that would remedy my issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Is Will Wong one if the latest people to receive Nucleus-M from group buy? Would be really nice to know where in the list we are since it looks like only 100 or less can be released per week?
I am not interested in waiting until next year no matter how great the unit is :(

Brian Pascale got his tracking number two weeks ago. He was #40 on the last posted list, but that list also didn't account for Phil Holland ordering two units, perhaps maybe others. That same list also excluded Levi Arnold, who got his unit at was #36 on the main list at the beginning of this post.

I'm #44 on that list, I have not received any shipping information yet.

You're 195 on the same list. I would not expect it before 2018.

So looks like cinegearpro (UK) is offering 10% off the full nucleus m unit.

So what was the point with this pre order with regards to a discount to group buyers? £1,165 exc VAT atm. Plus considering that I haven’t even received my unit from tilta, sent an email to Sophia this week and she said that my unit Might ship next month, not even a solid answer (no. 238).

Why shouldn’t I just refund from tilta and preorder from cgp and get a better deal?

A little frustrated about all the delays and continuously post-poning shipping dates,

I’ve had a tracking number since last Monday but they only created a shipping label and haven’t actually shipped the unit. I was told it’s a Christmas delay and the label should update next Monday. This may be the big shipment everyone is hoping for.

They do understand that Christmas is not for another 16 days...right?:)

My tracking number came in on the 4th. I was somewhere in the 40s on the updated list after all the drop outs.

Just got my tracking number and I'm on the list at 239.

The highest I've seen get tracking on Facebook is 107, I couldn't find your name on the updated list but you must have been somewhere near there.

If you're waiting until Christmas day to ship gifts to your relatives... well I've got bad news for you. :)

Received mine today, spent about an hour with it. I'm sure just scratching the surface. Got it working but had interference between motors. When turning focus, it worked great but the iris would jump and visa vera. I'm sure I need to take a deeper dive into the manual. Also, could not get the start/stop cable to work on my Weapon. When plugged into the sync port the fan would run full speed. The I hit record the camera would freeze. Happened with all three cables I purchased. Thoughts?

Im #42 and I got mine today. Did a quick test with a single motor and was able to get it up and working within 5 minutes. The Hand Unit felt really good and the motor was very smooth. It was really easy to calibrate the lens to the motor too.

The one weird snafu I have come across so far is that my Nitecore NL183 (18650) batteries do not want to fit into the Hand Unit - they seem to be slighty too big. I was able to use two CR123A batteries stacked to get it to work. Tomorrow I am going to try another brand of 18650 batteries. Has anyone had this problem and if so what batteries worked best for the Hand Unit?

Great to hear it’s working Matt. Pappas told me they were sick! I’ve got a batch of those batts if you want to try again.

Has anyone gotten a DHL tracking number but find it still sitting in Hong Kong for the last week!?!

Protected vs non-protected. The protected ones are a bit taller and won't work. And there's also button top vs flat top. You want button top, non-protected.

Tilta recommends these, so that's what I got. And that's what seems to work (I just got my unit tonight).

Your tracking will say Hong Kong until it hits the states. When it hit the states, I got a text saying it would arrive just two days after that. So it was a week of no updates, then two days of activity. International tracking is always a little wonky.

Just pre-ordered mine on B&H I hope they hit the Jan 16th date :) This is a pretty exciting product.. I tried the Cinegears FF and it was junk..

I like that I could use it as a hand held rig too. will be nice for one man run and gun. Will these batteries work they are the ones B&H recomended I get, now I'm questioning that.

Also how does one get added to the Facebook group? I sent a request a good while back with no luck getting added.
