  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus

It comes with a 1-year warranty. Once the dust/back orders settle, I'm guessing if a warranty/repair issue comes up, you'll be able to return it locally (hoping), so should be good. If you simply don't like it, just sell it, the demand will be there.

Just saw that a spot opened up, I was the next in the qeu so please add me to the main list

got the answer about customs/tax and its: "We could write low vaule on CI to avoid the high import fee. "
first of all this wont work if you are a business as your paid value has to match the one reported on the import quote if you want your books to be legit and also this is a bit of a fraud as well. I know its a common thing that companies from china do but its not working.

Well then I suppose you will have to pay the normal rate, right ? It's still your choice.
I can't see a lot of other solutions, what were you thinking of in particular ?

By the way the reality is that if the export distributor considers the value too low in terms of the contents, they will reassess it's value anyway. Usually this is lower than what the real value is, but also considered a token payment which would be acceptable. DHL does this all the time for instance and charges a service fee. That way they get their cut too.

Ive sent the email back but still haven't see any PO or invoice and this was a couple days ago. Does it take longer than that or have I missed some bit of info that needed to be added to my email.

I was just sent an email with the question about my choice of 15/15 or 15/19 bridge adapter. So Tilta is contacting those who sent in their email about their order.

true that is my choice, but it was said they will take care of import. this is not "taking care of" in my world :/
im more and more sceptical if i should wait for a product to come out and buy it then. im in no hurry and the saving is not there + a hustle to send it back to china if something goes wrong... and also Tilta doesnt have a good trackrecord on delivering on time like with their last wireless follow focus

Extra Motor doesn't include cable

Extra Motor doesn't include cable

Hey guys, I just learned from Tilta, that the extra motor does not include a cable. If you are buying the extra motor you must also specify that an extra bridge cable be added. You'd think that they'd mention this when ordering..

I just found that out as well. They need to either include the quote for the cable or just include the cable. This is a potential headache for a whole bunch of people...

They are still getting emails out.
Chris, are you sure Tilta will be able to sort out all the logistics (sending mails out, charging the cards etc) before the 19th payment cut off? its been almost a week since I filled out the auth form and they are yet to charge the card, hope they can sort everything out this week otherwise it can create confusion (enforcing 19th cutoff) if payment delay is due to Tilta's logistic bottle neck

It's going to be extended by a week since it's just taking them too long.

I received the order mail today.
Attached is a form which must be filled out with credit card information, signed and sent back by email. Also a scan with one's photo ID
I am glad they are accepting credit cards and I hate continuing to be the fly in the ointment (sorry Chris), but this is not at all a secure way to make CC payment. This is amateur hour. It might have worked in 2000, but not today. One is transmitting through a non-secure connection absolutely all the info necessary for intercept or fraud. I am very surprised at this and even more surprised that no one here has mentioned it.

They need a secure CC portal. Or someone at their office needs to take info over the phone and wait for authorization on their system. Another way may be to include the last 4 digits of the card, with all the other info and then speak with someone by phone. Or some kind of encryption program. There are perhaps other alternatives to be found (no fax is not good either by the way), but it would definitely benefit them to find a more professional way of dealing with this kind of stuff going forward anyhow.

Yeah, I just got the same email. I'm surprised there isn't more commentary on this. CC by paper? and a scan of an ID?! over email?? Seems like an identity theft nightmare waiting to happen. It's hard to understand in this day and age how we aren't being linked though a standard "checkout" type of purchasing portal, though a reputable processor.

Agreed.

After taking into account the sales tax in CA (which I'm guessing will not be the discounted production tax rate) and shipping, it would cost me more through the group buy then it would cost me straight from a local reseller. Sure, I won't be one of the first people with one if I take that route, but if the preproduction unit I played with yesterday is any indication as to how far out they are on getting all the software in order, then I think it's wise to wait it out and get my unit a few months later once the bugs have been worked out. Hardware-wise, it seems nice. The motors are quiet, they seem to have sufficient torque, the hand controller and gimbal handles seem solidly built, and the price is great. But I want to make sure they get it working properly before bringing it on set, and for me that's worth the wait. As for shipping June/July, again -after playing with the Cinegear pre-pro unit- I'd be extremely surprised if they hit that date, as it felt like a very early prototype, not something that was relatively close to final production. I hope for the sake of everyone here that they do hit their target date and that it's awesome, but I won't be participating this time.

Thanks Chris for all your hard work on this and other group buys. I don't even want to think about what a headache running these things can be.
