  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus

I went to CineGear yesterday and tried out the TNM. I'm really excited about this unit, so I was really bummed that we ran into issues almost instantly. The biggest problem was that the knob on the wireless handle had a strange spring-back reaction at the end of it's rotation in both directions. At first we thought it was a motor drift, but it was definitely play in the hand unit knob. I'm still going to buy it, but just tempering my expectations about build quality issues. I've attached a video of the phenomenon.

Sorry for the poor quality, shot it on my phone.

Hey Christopher,

Thanks for posting this. Did you happen to bring this up with Yang or Tilta reps there on the floor? I'm curious how that will be handled and hopefully it's not a design flaw and more of a one off incident.

From what I understand from Yang, that the units at CineGear are still prototype and changes are going to be made. So if this issue of springback exists Yang should be made aware of it ASAP.

I hope I get a notification or something.

Chris, for those of us who aren't keeping up with RU daily, is there a way to make sure we don't miss important "It's time to pay/enter order specifics/etc." information? I'm just concerned that the time may come around and I'll miss it and be dropped from the list.

Tilta is aware and already have the engineers addressing, but it's basically a dampening issue, which was too loose. Plus, remember, these are still demo units.

I would have to assume the units that ship will be corrected, cause that is certainly unusable. Surprised they would show that off at cinegear without a disclaimer of some form.

Yeah, I talked with them about it for a while. They were good about not trying to hide it or sugar coat it. They took a video of it for the engineers to look at. The 2nd handle operated just fine. I don't think it's a design problem, I think it's a quality control issue. I'm sure the CineGear demos had been man handled all day, but I'm sure that's how a lot of units will be used on set.

Are the grips a plastic construction?
From the photos I can't tell whether they look incredibly durable or something that might not withstand much stress

I put my shoulder rig grips through quite a lot of stress so don't want to end up cracking or snapping these ones!

From the little time I've had with them on the show floors, they look to have a decent build quality. I'm hoping to have a pre-prod kit here VERY shortly in which I'll be putting it through the paces and providing feedback directly to Tilta so they can make the final tweaks before they ship out everyone's order.

I understand the group buy is closed but if there are any changes or additions please add +1 - ready to buy now
Thanks

Please break down options more clearly.

Nucleus-M $1099 (This includes 2 motors, hand control, 2 handles, cabling, and case?)
Extra motor $300 (this would be for a 3rd control interface?)
R/S cable(RED OR ARRI) $80 (???)
15/15mm or 15/19mm Handgrip Support $150 (This is to connect the two handles to a rod system?)

Is there an option to buy the ring adaptor for the handles so it can fit on a gimbal?

Thanks,
M

Hey Chris,
What happened to the demo/test (by Reduser)?

Also curious to the two handgrip supports.

The 15/19 is the one we've seen in the NAB videos, correct? But what is the 15/15 version?

The 15/15 would be 15 lightweight and 15 studio, giving you options.

It was all stated in the group buy guys...frustrating having to answer basic questions like what the kit includes. Yes, that's what it includes, yes extra motor would be the 3rd motor, yes - any camera start/stop trigger and yes, this is to connect the handles to a rod support system. The ring adapters for gimbals are already included.

I'm hoping to get one around June 10th

Thanks

I don't want to be a pain however, I am pretty sure that we talked about to have a demo/review by (any) Reduser before any purchase or money transfer.

2nd, Can we have Paypal option as well, please.

Cheers
