  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus

I am thinking of pulling out (as if that would make any difference on such a list !)

I feel a $100 off is not worth it, I might prefer to wait for the hands on reviews than cashing out $1100 on a unreviewed product.

I am (and I think alot of people on the list) banking on the quality of their past product to judge that their future product will hold up to a specific standard. Its more like RED announcing a product, even if its 10years away people will put their money down simply because they've proven themselves time over with past efforts. Not to say its not risky to put out $1,100 on an untested product, but my gut feeling is that if this product delivers as they promise with the units on NAB floor, then I think it will be such a fast sell out that it will quickly move into backorder with major distributors and you could be looking at next year before Tilta can fulfill all orders especially at this price point. (1 in every 4 RED owner would probably want one, then pretty much anyone with a decent lens set in their arsenal would want 1).

Good point Abiodun, I'll take it into account

Here is why I tripled down on this order.

1. No company or product is perfect. I first purchased some TILTA products in 2009 and 2010. They were primitive DSLR accessories - but they got the job I needed done at that time, and they were innovative. Multi splitter power plates. Compared to what we see today they were total crap, but they showed the inspiration of someone who wanted to make something for camera people. Their branding at the time was based on a particular graphic style that I absolutely love - reminiscent of exploded technical diagrams from Tamiya model kits from the early early 80's. That's called style.

2. I've seen the product quality grow and change. Sometimes that means innovation, sometimes that means replication. I'm not a fan of products that are a straight rip of another product or that simply don't work the way they should. Some failings we can chalk up to ambition. I vote with my wallet. I decided not to buy the Gimbal, and hold out for a more experienced Gimbal manufacturer , or Gen 3 of it. I don't "need" a Gimbal. However I do need multiple sets of very configurable and affordable lens control systems. I'd rather buy an innovativ cart than a very innovativ like cart - even though these guys made some Brilliant mods to the innovativ design, it just didn't feel right. If they offered add-ons, accessories or mods for the innovativ carts I'd be ALL OVER THAT.

3. They opened an office in Burbank. If / when I burn out a motor, it will be coming to the Burbank shop for repair/replace. Welcome to LA! It's where I live and make most of my work. This is obviously not a benefit for everyone.

4. Price is crazy affordable and the product development has evolved enough. We don't need iOS linking in a cheap, good LCS or a large screen even. We just need reliability and repeatability. The units at NAB were obviously protos but they were responsive to inputs - that's number one before any bells and whistles.

5. They work with Keslow camera for some consultation. Keslow rules!

In conclusion - this company has been around a while, I want to support something they developed that has a good product design and concept, and that I very much need almost every day.

Thanks for making these and thanks Chris for the GB.

Please add me to the list for one Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless focus. Plus RED control cable.

I wrote more than a day ago to info@tilta.com for shipping and other information but no reply... When does the GB close exactly?

The 27th - tomorrow - at midnight, so 12am on the 28th.

Awesome points Dan!

$1000 for this setup and people still aren't happy haha. Even if it "doesn't work" you can sell it and get most of your money back. Worst case you lose a couple hundred dollars. If this was DSLRuser.net maybe I'd understand but seriously..

Possibly the most affordable FIZ system ever, guess there will always someone who's not happy. Even if it was free...

Yup..always happens unfortunately.

I still haven't heard from info@tilta either (about shipping costs).

You hear anything Chris (about adding a second power cable to use the two handgrips+1motor as separate units)? Also, any chance they'll include the RED trig cable at 550?

I want to add a RED Rec Control Cable and extra motor to my order.

As stated previously and in the original post, you don't need to add/request your accessories on this thread. You only do that at the time you place your order.

Checking again for you. Hope to hear back asap. And no, they prob won't include the Record Trigger Cable until we reach 600.

I haven't used a wireless FF before. How good is the control of focus with the thumb or fingers? Has anybody used this system to speak to how precise one can be?

I'm also still waiting to hear back from info@tilta regarding shipping. Anyone in Canada get a shipping quote yet? If so, if you could PM me what they quoted you so I have a ballpark idea what it would be for me, that would be much appreciated!

That said, you can add me to the list for a unit (assuming the shipping is reasonable).

so +1 for me!
