  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

That is essentially a cable to power cameras from a larger V-lock or Gold mount battery, since the Tilta on-board battery is too weak, yes? How could they provide a direct camera power since there are so many different camera power inputs. They'd have to give us 10 or more different cables, some of them with voltage regulators. I'm ok with this solution.
Nope, I am not talking about powering the camera from Gravity, I am talking about powering the camera from AM2, its got a V-lock (or AB) mount at the back and I presume that AM2 will be use with other gimbals like Ronin which doesn't necessarily have a P-Tap breakout box. Thats why I assume when Tilta implied they were supplying a cable to power the camera from AM2, they meant "direct to camera" power supply cable otherwise they could have just said they are providing a cable to power the breakout box and not the camera. Its a good deal Chris got us nonetheless.

On the flip side, I did get to power the Gravity from the camera's battery, and got me thinking if the draw is not huge, I might as well let go of the Gravity's battery all together to shave some weight. Though, there are some vibrations introduced with this setup, told Paul about it and he says will get back to me if there's any settings I need to change within the app when powering from an external source. Waiting on him for that, as well a timed test on the effect battery life with this setup

Finally got a chance to use mine on a job, boy is this thing buggy... It randomly powers down, I guess that's as a result of that battery not having full contact" issue. It also "goes to sleep" meaning i'll be in the middle of a shot where it's acting normally & is balanced & all of a sudden it goes limp as if the power's suddenly turned off but it's actually still powered on. I'm I the only one experiencing this?

That might be a battery issue. I've had the same experience, but only with one of my 3 batteries. Try the D-tap to DC Cable they gave you and plug it into a brick to see if that solves it.

was an electronic format (pdf or whatever) manual / guide ever published for gimbal (an / or armorman)?

okay thanks for providing other links - otherwise would not have know. MAybe a stickie can be created for this group reflecting that

Hello guys, so I received my gravity last Friday, I was away though on a gig, today I got to unbox and I can't seem to find my 3rd battery. Now I remember some others had trouble in finding it too, where was it? Am I missing something? Thank you

Just tried to perform the update and it bricked my Gravity. I'll contact Tilta concerning this issue.

UPDATE:

The gimbal works again. I tried switching it on again today without having changed the setup since I tried to update it, and it worked. For now I will not try to update the gimbal again.

WARNING!!!!!
Do not try to update your gravity to use the updated firmware and the mimic controller. My Gimbal is now successfully bricked, and I'm not the only one this has happened to. So frustrating. I have 3 days to figure out an alternative for my shoot now. Thanks a lot Tilta!

Update: It took many many tries, several computers and several cables, but the Gravity is working again. So, if you are updating your gravity, please know that there is a possibility that it could take your afternoon. On the positive note, Yang just posted that all Red user GB people will be receiving a free controller for the Gravity, once they finish it! So that's cool!

If you have the new mimic 2, Yang stated there is no need to update.

a lot of us in the group buy opted to take the gravity/am2 without the mimic to get it sooner.

I just got my mimic 2 a week ago

From Yang - Hi Guys, since a lot of Gravity users request a remote controller, we are now making a Tiltamax version, would be very simple to use and link. Everyone bought Gravity in Red group buy could get one for free. Thanks for your support. Working on the dates now, will have more updates soon.

So essentially everyone who purchased a Gravity through this GB will get a free controller once they ship. Sophia will be contacting everyone once they are ready to ship out.

I wonder if we can get a deal if we just bought the armorman2 from the GB? I purchased the Gravity prior to the GB and would love the controller! Thanks

anyone able to help me with an SBUS connection issue with the gravity ? I have the futaba t8j with a r2008sb rx - latest firmware for gravity

I cannot get the sbus connection cable to fit inside the sbus port on the side of the gravity. is looks like the sbus port on the gravity isnt the same as the sbus on the rx.

Have you pinged Yang on FB? He can have his engineers look at the problem.

Backing out?

Backing out?

Did anyone get cold feet and back out of the GB?

I'm seriously considering getting into this sort of setup and the cost-savings is considerable...
We use a lot of Sony F55s and Alexa minis.
The GB is closed, but perhaps somebody needs the cash more.

James
