  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - SmallHD Production/HDR Monitors

Put me down for the 1303 HDR! How do I order the accessories? What is the time frame?

Any particular reason the GB details have been removed from the OP? I know it's closed, but typically the information regarding the GB is still left up.

I can't speak for Chris, but once the GB is closed... I'd remove the details as well.
if it's a month after the GB is closed and I google "smallhd hdr monitor discount" and this thread pops up with all the details of savings.. I would immediately bother Chris via PM to see if there was any way to still get the savings.. then if he doesn't respond or says "no" because it is over.. then i would contact SmallHD and bother them about how they should offer another group buy or allow me to reap the savings because I'm a longstanding customer and attempt to use this thread as leverage as proof that the monitors should be less expensive... to which they will either say "whatever" and give me the discount as stated in the thread or just say "no" with the fact that the discount has passed.. which leaves them caught between helping a customer or honoring the rules and time-frame of their generous offer..... removing the details, to me, eliminates a lot of the after-the-fact discussions so everyone can move on. IMO

Because I will continue to get PM'd regarding the GB of people wanting to join because they don't read that's it's closed if all of the info regarding the GB is still there. Happens every time. Also, it protects the seller of whatever product we are buying from angry distributors.

I just found this thread after my computer being in the repair shop for weeks. Does anyone know if the discount codes are unique, or are they generic and reusable? Could some kind soul PM me a code? Perhaps on elf you has decided not to order?

I'm sorry but since the GB is over, you can no longer participate. SmallHD has the master list, and anyone who's not on that list who tries to order with a discount code will have to pay full MSRP.

That's cool. I was just curious. Even though I didn't buy one, I appreciate all the work you put into it.
 
Just received my 1303HDR. Everything was packaged great. Haven't fired it up yet, but managed to attach the C-stand mount and battery plate easily.

I did notice the holes on one side of my sunhood do not line up with the respective holes (1/8inch short - enough to stop both thumbscrews from attaching at the same time). A minor inconvenience, but I'm sure SmallHD will kindly replace it for me. However, I thought others in this GB might benefit from double-checking their own sunhood (if they ordered one).

Is it accurate in Studio Mode (with the 1.3 FW released recently).

Did the monitor came with 1.3 already installed?

  • came with v1.3 firmware installed
  • SD card includes calibration file which is activated in menus by default
  • greyed out "AUTO CALIBRATION" option in CALIBRATION menu, labelled "coming soon"
  • in BACKLIGHT menu, select from "STANDARD RANGE" with BACKLIGHT slider 0 > 100, increments of 20; or "STUDIO BRIGHTNESS" locks display brightness to 100 Nits (STUDIO BRIGHTNESS slider located in CALIBRATION menu, 0 > 100, increments of 1, preset to 50)

Ran into the office for a crude comparison test against my Flanders. Overall pretty pleased with the build and image quality. Keen to run some more detailed tests and see how it works out on-set.

color response seems ok at least by eye, do you find the contrast ratio a little off?

I mean slightly milky blacks and greyed whites?

On paper it should have quite high contrast but maybe the hi-brightness panel, when driven for 100nits target is behaving in a strange way?
