  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: RTMotion Wireless Multi-Channel Follow Focus - Limited Time!

Hi Kris,

We sold our other follow focus systems because your RT Motion units are outperforming them. We just held a workshop and afterwards one of our regular 1st AC's with a $27,000 follow focus said he's selling it because he'd rather be using your system.

We already knew the size and flexibility of the controller were unlike anything else out there. Now the range is too. The new motors are ridiculous. NICE FRIGGIN JOB!!!!!!

We look forward to the lens mapping firmware update :)

Re: Cabrios!! We have great desire for OPTION NUMBER 1. We are using these lenses a lot and seeing them gain market share like crazy. Let us know if you need any help from us re: prototyping, etc. We've been looking forward to this for awhile so we've got some ideas. Feel free to reach out to Pieter and me via our emails.

Thanks for keeping at it.

Pieter! Glad you're so happy with the new version.

I noticed you have Cabrio zooms. Would you be interested in..

1) A tiny receiver, i.e. even smaller, which had a socket which connects to the cabrio, and other internal focus zooms? i.e. you'd use the same handset, just different receiver. It could also have a port for 1 rt motion motor maybe.

2) A dongle (about the size of a pp3 battery) which went between the AUX port of the existing receiver and broadcast lenses, to accomplish the same thing?

Is number 1 worthwhile? Or should we just concentrate on number 2 which is on the cards any way?

Kris

Just got my FIZ from RT Motion. Very impressed! Super intuitive and easy to customize. Set it up and feeling confident to bring it on set within an hour of testing and customizing. Best piece of gear I have bought since my Epic! Putting it into the wild on a Suicidal Tendencies music vid on Sunday.
Highly recommend this system if you are looking for a wireless FF.
Great job RT Motion!

Been using my baby 12 hours a day the last 5 days and it is simply FANTASTIC. Focus pulling has never been so enjoyable and fun :))

This baby is solid and works great!

The only weird thing I have encountered is my oled screen disapearing...but I think this happens when the receiver power supply gets removed and plugged back in while the controller is still on. Not sure 100% if that's the culprit, but haven't really needed it anyways as I have been using my Cooke 18-100 for everything and the auto mapping feature on power up does all the work.

Just got done with my first shoot with RT motion FIZ. Worked perfectly with my Epic on my Jimmy Jib above a crazy mosh pit. This is an fantastic system!

I contacted the guys today. So far nothing has been solved with my oled screen not showing up on the remote. It totally sucks and the timing couldn't be worse :(

anyone else have have any advice or encountered a similar issue?

Just got my hands on a 3.0 kit! Two questions:

Do people have a preference on using either the bnc-sync cable or the RED lemo sync cable for Run-Stop control?

Has anyone come up with a clever way to mark their focus rings if they own their own set of lenses? I've got 8, and if there's a way that can save me from buying 10 rings, that'd be great.

Thanks!

Kris, i would also really be interested in a way to control the cabrio lenses!! But i think option 2 would be the easiest and cheapest to make, i presume. The receiver is already so small that a small extra dongle shouldnt be any problem for me. Would love to have that option, when we it be available you think?

Isn't it time for another group buy??? Hmmmmm?

I just tested the unit for my class demonstration yesterday and it really worked flawlessly.

If its short use Lemo cable to receiver. Virtualy all the time the received is on camera anyway. If you want an option of running other data in to the lemo i.e. genlock or shutter sync then BNC is the way to go.

If you want options of using a lemo to 3 bnc cable so you could use say a long cable down the arm of a Crane BNC is convenient as the crane may be rigged with a BNC cable or BNC cables are very common on set avoiding strange and odd cables and connectors then BNC is less elegant but less costly to duplicate cables.

I'd be interested in another group buy
