  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Peleng 8mm + ND filters

We're still looking for lenses. Making some very slight progress talking directly with Belomo (manufacturer). They only want to ship a few at a time, won't give a price and just want to make it difficult. Seems like we need to figure out what day and time to call so that discussions aren't laced with so much vodka.

I haven't talked to Doug directly, but I think he's in the same boat... Doesn't have a source for the lenses anymore.
 
Can anyone tell me exactly what the group buy includes??? The lens by itself? Or the lens AND the NDs??? And what is the official final price for both?

At this point the group buy doesn't exist, it includes nothing. Some of us are trying to find a source for these lenses. If we come up with a "group buy" it probably won't save anyone money because these lenses are dirt cheap to begin with. But it would be nice if we could round up some lenses, get decent PL mounts installed and properly adjusted and include some a couple usable filters. And with a "group buy", we could provide a one-stop-shop to buy an 8mm instead of hunting down a lens and other pieces on ebay.

It's nice to know how many people are interested, we're trying to get a firm answer out of the belomo factory with a price and delivery date / method for 10 lenses. It's proving difficult... Not only is the vodka very strong in that part of the world, it's radioactive. I should probably point a geiger meter at my 8mm and see if I really want to keep it. ;-)
 
I almost pulled the trigger on an ebay one, but I'll hold off. Count me in for the group buy if it happens plus the NDs. Thanks!

That's the same seller I bought my PL mount Peleng from. Go for it, great lens. The mount is black anodized aluminum and it also ships with a nikon mount you can swap if you want. The case that comes with the lens is junk as is the lens cap. I keep mine wrapped in a microfiber cloth and use a small Lowepro lens case to hold it.

I also picked up an extra set of the 3 filters from another ebay seller. My plan is to keep the extra clear filter as a spare and have some of the other filters converted to NDs.

Whoa, really? He doesn't even advertise that. I was going to buy the Nikon mount version of this lens, since I'm using Nikon primes, but if it comes with PL and a Nikon mount, I'll just grab this one. How easy is it to swap the two?

Yeah, I'd snatch it up if you can get a reputable seller, especially with the filters. Doug can also PL mount them for you if you find one in need of it.
 
I decided to buy one on eBay, should be here any day.
