  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Optitron2 - Wireless remote for Canon/Nikon glass

I hear rumblings coming from Optitek. Watch this space for an announcement.

Ooooooooo. Sounds exciting! (I hope.)

What I'd hope, is that Jacek collects the numbers from different web ventures, and makes into a giant pool which would give access to this great tool for a lot of people.

Wow Gunleick, are you clarvoiant? ;-)

You may have your wish!

Jacek has very generously consented to do two things to help us all reach the highest tier possible.

First, he has agreed to allow DVXUsers and ArriUsers to join our pool and receive the same discount.
Between now and the close of our group buy, any Optitron2 order that he receives from DVXUser and ArriUser forums will be added to our group total.

Secondly he has agreed to extend the order deadline one week.
Orders will be accepted until the close of business on 10/22 at which time the discount will be determined. Nothing else has changed. All orders in good standing will still ship on or before 11/22/15.
This gives our group buy a full 30 days to attract participants and gives DVXUsers and ArriUsers more time to take advantage of the offer.

It's a win/win!

But this is not today's only development. We are still expecting another announcement from Optitek. Stay tuned!

I'm not sure this addresses the problem with this GB. I won't place an order until the final tier is defined. I suspect most are in this boat. I don't even want to place an order at a higher price with an understanding of a later adjustment. I may order at the tier 3 or 4 price but that's it.

That isn't really a problem. If we get enough names to get us to tier three, you place your order and everyone is happy. We just need to reach that threshold with people who will follow through before 10/22. :-)

If people fail to follow through that could lead to difficulty for you. This I understand, but that is the catch 22 of a group buy.

Is it possible that I misunderstand? What do you mean by "I won't place an order until the final tier is defined."? Is the discount structure unclear? Can I help with that?

13 more and we meet your requirement. Tier 3 baby! Invite your friends and colleagues. This is no longer a Red kit exclusive. Sony and Arri Optitron2 kits are now also eligible for the GB.

This takes the Optitron from amazing to a complete NO BRAINER!

You guys are going to love this system!

Okay, Jacek. . . how do I get my "old-style" Optitron 2 upgraded???

Thanks!

Stephen

My favorite customer needs not to worry about the upgrade ;-)))

So the optitron is compatible with all camera systems ? Just change mounts?

Yes that's correct.
For Sony and ARRI you need OptiTek Canon adapters.
The nice thing about that setup is that the power is drawn from the camera front so no power cable is necessary. you cut one cord and the need fo one power tap with ARRI And Sony PWM cameras
OptiTron2 is also compatible with Canon, BMD, Panasonic cameras via the Lanc ports- we are in process of implementing the LANC software at this time.
Last, but not least- OptiTron2 will also become traditional wireless FF for PL lenses via external motors with the up coming MDR box....

Great new features! Count me in at tier 3 or 4.

  1. Troy Bakewell (Confirmed)
  2. Brian Pascale
  3. Julio Quintana
  4. D Fuller
  5. Joachim Hoge
  6. Gunleik Groven
  7. Scott Crawley
  8. martinnoweck
Reserve Tier 3
  • Med D
  • Suresh Kara
  • scott devitte
  • Bruce Allen
  • Jack Allred
  • Philip Lanyon
  • Loic Parent
  • Donald MJ Anderson
  • Blair S. Paulsen
  • Robert Gustafsson

That is a potential total of 18.

Great!

Flying off to NYC now. Been insanely busy the last few weeks on delivery of tools and software to a set.

Would be great if we reached 30!!

The tool does what you want with the lenses it works with.

One thing I am curious about when the control happens in Jaceks Mounts vs through RCP, is if the choice of lenses that works changes?

Is there any difference in Sigma and Nikon performance through his mounts vs RCP?

Can Optitron and Foolcontrol be used at the same time? If so, how is the focus control shared or assigned?

Thanks!

I don't think you'll want to use fool control focus when you have Optitron2 . Not even close in functionality. Setting camera parameters, playback- hell yes!! But focus -:nonod:

I guess what I am asking though is do they get in the way of each other? Does one have control of the focus or can either be used? If the latter then I would think calibration would get thrown off.
