  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Litepanels Gemini

My Snapbag shipped this week and should have it on Monday. Still waiting on BT dongle, hope it gets shipped soon as I would love to use the app.
 
Can also confirm the new firmware fixed the problem.

On a separate note, has anyone else had concerns about the protruding bolts on the inside of the barn doors scratching the light's surface? It is such a tight fit, I'm pretty sure I gave it a light scratch the very first time I put them on.
 
Did not get the barn doors seemed the soft box and egg crate was a better option to control the light (for me at least). Has anyone gotten their soft box yet? Wondering if it comes with different diffusions 1/4, 1/2, full. or just a standard one and we have to get the others, can't find an answer on Adorama or BH.

The Snap Bag includes a 1/2 stop diffusion cloth.
 
Vitec has been all over this "dial" issue. Terrific communication with me last week. new firmware works. Didnt realize my dimmer was funky until I put the new firmwear in. All working great.
 
Any word on dongles getting shipped?

Literally just checked on that 5 seconds ago with Adorama chat. Not good news, it's already been a month and the rep said prob won't be filled until end of August. Was gonna come over here and see who all is still waiting.

Remember, originally this group buy was for the Gemini fixture only. Allowing us all to purchase accessories at up to 25% off was an additional bonus Litepanels gifted everyone all after sales were so strong. However, I do not think they were prepared for the massive amount of accessory orders, thus the delay. If Adorama doesn't have an accessory in stock, it's because Litepanels does not have that accessory in stock.

So for some of the accessories, it may be another few weeks. Others may arrive sooner. But all orders will be honored as quickly as possible.

Good news is that you don't need the bluetooth dongle, snapbag or any of the other aks in order for the Gemini to work on set. Plug it in, and ask your grip or PA to turn the physical knob like they used to in the olden days. You know, back in 2017 ;)

No actually is was a SnapBag. I got all the dongles early on. Has anyone else had trouble getting the snap grid installed on the soft box? It seems too big.

Its just how they are (at least on the SkyPanel version) it has to be tight so its hard to put on until you get the idea of how to do it.
 
Yep tough to get on, you have to mount it shallow, don't go too deep with it. I imagine after use it will get easier and more worn in.

It's odd that this thread is now under the Gemini 5K camera thread. I'm not too happy with my Snap Bags as they appear to be a generic accessory not made by Light Panels and way over priced for what it is, the light is already incredibly soft.
