  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

Hey Pierre,

email sent regarding MKII. I didnt receive an email yet about the MKII offer but I havent received a tracking number or anything either for the MKI. Could you let me know what is entailed in the MKII upgrade and if it's possible to wait for that instead of taking delivery of the MKI? Thanks so much Pierre!

Best,

-John Brennick

Hi Pierre,

Just sent you an email. I can wait too for the Mark 2. Thanks,

Wil Wong
Toronto, Canada

I will volunteer since I can wait another two months for the Mark II.
Thanks.

Thanks Pierre for the fast feedback.

Well, 2 month now isn't too long so let's go like this. Just to know, we don't need to add extra $ for this new version ?

Thanks !

Well, finally email job coming and I need it before 2 month, as the deliveries continue for Reduser, hope to have soon.

Thanks Pierre !

Ok, I can wait for the Mark II. But, can we have some more info Pierre? I think it's obvious that we'd need a precise offer, in a precise timetable, in order to really decide if it's worth it to wait or not. What is going to be different, and is it really going to be 2 months or are we going to end up waiting for another 6 months or so??

Thank you

Our remaing two units are missing on this list!

Got mine. After a few days delays in customs, it's here. Testing tomorrow.

Pierre I wrote a couple of messages back that I can wait for the MK II, you haven't included me on the list and you haven't answered any of my questions

Vassili

I think the question itself means your not in the volunteers list Vassili.

Besides, Pierre said that will be it for the reduser groupbuy right before your post.

Pierre , I didnt take the time to congrat you on this wonderful piece of gear.
Maybe you should partner with some gimbal manufacturers to sell even more, as it is a mendatory companion (if you wish to live long)

Pierre reached to me in my mail and included me in the Mark II list. Thank you Pierre. Berenger, I don't know in which world, asking info for a change in a product automatically excludes you from the product.
My questions still stand, I guess when Pierre is ready he will answer them.

So I took the rig for a ride today with a Ronin. Unbelievable. My first outing I wore it for half an hour. Did some tracking shots down the street, walked into my corner bar, grabbed a drink, walked out and kept shooting. Had it in inverted mode. Underslung just isn't practical for eye level. Inverted is no longer a POA. Prior to this, I really didn't push my Ronin because carrying gimbals and cameras even with a MOVI is just not that fun. The exo made gimbal work enjoyable again. I actually pulled iris by hand walking into my bar without a problem. I tried several types of shots, follows, arcs, 360's, etc and having that 4th axis smoothed out makes a huge difference. Taking the weight off also made fine tuning a move much easier than without. My only reservations are tight, crowded sets, you'll need elbow room. The profile is wide but not impossible. Went through a standard doorway without issue. I think the straps while functional would be better replaced with a quick release system so you can park your rig faster. The stand is a bit rinky dink. I'd suggest a baby beefy with an off set if on set. It's a minor beef. I love the quick release waist straps. Great for emergencies if you have to drop the rig quickly. The long arms I believe have a more progessive / constant resistance through its movement than articulating arms. So it's quite easy to adjust and find the right tension. My first time out, the camera floated in front - no hands.

In short, I will not ever take the gimbal out without this

Pierre - I have responded via email and PM as well but, just to be sure, I am willing to wait for Mark II. (What the heck, I waited this long. lol)

Turns out my rig turn up 2 hours after I wrote this. Oh, well.

Haven't even had a minute to unpack it yet.

Hi Ned, it's so great to read this! Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Received my Exhauss yesterday. After some fitting and trying I already found it a joy to work with. Quite easy to assemble once you understand the different parts. I've got no trouble at all getting in and out the suit and off or on the stand on my own. I agree with Ned that the stand is maybe just a bit too light for the Exhauss. It will hold it allright, but it isn't rock solid. Ofcourse, this is just a minor thing. Took it for a little spin with the Ronin and a BMPCC, and it is such a joy to work with a gimbal in a free and effortless way!! I bought the Ronin with the aim to give my camera moves more divers motion, but without the Exhauss, I couldn't make it work because of the weight and my shaking arms. My first impression after trying it with the Exhauss is that I now have the time and energy to think about and perfect those wonderful fluid shots. It opens up a world of possibilities. The learning curve in getting perfect shots will be in learning the feel of the Exhauss and how to move your body smoothly and keep balance. (for example: leaning forward makes the armes come forward, so kneeling in stead of leaning gave me a more smooth move down or up) I'm also glad to notice the arms dampening the vertical movement quite a bit. To perfect a glide I'll have to perfect my way of walking, but the Exhauss helps a lot. It's great to be able to have your hands free while operating the gimbal. I had some trouble getting my sweaty hands (32 degrees Celsius outside!) out of the straps, which openings are a bit small to my taste. (nitpicking here)
Overall: I'm thrilled. Can't wait to take it on a job. First have to practice some more, and try loading up an FS-700 and extra gear to see how that feels. I've no doubt the Exhauss will help me carry them too. I'll also try this combo out on an interview situation. It's easy to keep a steady shot now, and it will be awesome to quickly move from person to person. My only worry will be the sound of the Ronin motors. I'll be sure to post some footage when I've tried that.
Pierre, congrats on a great product and providing us with a solution that will save our backs and shoulders, and help us forward on the way to fluid cinema. :-)
