  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

I am ready to make final payment. Just need the information to complete the transaction. It would be nice if the website store was enabled.

By the way, that other "famous" group buy is turning out to be one of the most successful ever. That group buy set out to create a product that is on par with the MōVI M10, which was priced at 15k at the time, for 1/3 of the price. Yes, it has taken 18 months to get there, but the group buy succeeded in its mission to create an elite gimbal. Not only is it better than the M10, Ronin and others, but it's even better than the second gen MōVI M15.

If you don't believe me, go over to that thread and read the unbiased comments of the people who are receiving and testing their units.

So I wouldn't call that group buy anything but an overwhelming success. Sure, it was a long, bumpy road... But what journey toward success isn't?

This group buy will be an amazing success, and it won't take 18 months to get there.

If everyone will just relax until you get your unit, you will be on here raving about how much you love it and can't live without it. The same ones who are stirring up trouble now will be the same ones who rave about it. Just like in the other "famous" group buy.

Just arranged my wire transfer for the balance today. On the road to being paid up. :-)

EDIT: Just got word the wire transfer was paid out.

Got a notification from Bérenger and email Pierre directly to get payment instruction. So far nothing heard from him. I need to change shipping address. Pierre?

Carey, with all due respect and not to undermine the effort you are putting in (I know it's not easy), but it is not that simple.
I have personally pulled out after the first promise (of not requesting deposits until the actual pics of the final product are available) was broken. If you remember - back then you have assured me that this company has been in business for a while and that they will for sure deliver before the end of last year. Then the other promise was broken (not requesting full payments until the review of the final unit is ready). Now it is April already, four months behind the original deadline...
Now, just to be clear - I am not bashing this company. I am simply stating the obvious and the same thing I have told you back then - it is not easy (even for established company such as this) to get a new product out to the customers. I was myself ready to release my own new product back in November - but I am glad that the company I have been collaborating with talked me out of launching any group buy. Fast forward to today - we have gone through three major product revisions based on feedback from early beta testers and finally the product is ready to be released next week, almost six months after I have originally anticipated to be able to release it. Very few people here comprehend the logistics involved and all the possible things that can (and often do) go wrong. This is why it makes sense for any manufacturer to wait until they really have the final product ready to go before asking anyone for any money. Otherwise this is borderline crowd-funding. Again, nothing wrong with that as long as it is clearly communicated up front and all the conditions / promises stay put and are adhered to...
The problem is that while you (might) eventually deliver an amazing product, you can't justify holding people's money for so long.
For example in March I have lost $8K by not being able to take advantage of a major discount a supplier offered me if I can buy that particular equipment before the end of the last quarter. Cash flow is everything for us and money sitting somewhere else waiting for product development and manufacturing is money that you can't use for your own day-to-day business and the loses can easily and dramatically exceed any potential saving on such a group buy. Never mind the loss of potential business during that waiting period. How many people in that said GB were forced to rent other products because theirs were not ready?

Just saying...

Seems like everyone with no stake in the game now wants to weigh in with their infinite wisdom. :yikes:

So it seems, but Peter hasn't been trolling though.

I once asked moderators to do a subsection for groupbuys in the marketplace. I still think it should happen, despite the sponsorship rules.
Just incase it gets deleted, I have saved the original list and, the payment list.

Thank you Bérenger for the voice of reason and for seeing my comment for what it was...

I do have my own stakes in here. I own two Ronins and I am very much in market to purchase a support solution. I have not decided any which way and have been patiently testing all the available options on the market.
I know I won't be able to take advantage of the discounted price for the GB - but that does not mean I am not interested in this product.
On the contrary - this is why I have been closely following this thread...

What prompted my above post was Carey justification of "success" for any GB being the eventual delivery of the promised product with a complete ignorance of the delays and what these delays mean to end users.
I also can't call my own product launch a success having been forced to release it 6 months behind my original schedule. That alone is a major failure and a lesson I have learned from greatly.
I am extremely thankful to my partner company for talking me out of organising a GB here on RU.
This way I have not taken any end customer's money and held it through the six months delay.
I "only" have to deal with my distributors - to whom I must look like an overwhelming failure and I can't blame them.
Even once we launch our product over the next few days and it is extremely well received in the industry with strong sales - I can't look my distributors in the face and call my product launch an "overwhelming success"...
I will humbly apologize to them for the delay and find a way to compensate them for it...

Peter

Curious, what's the product Peter ?

Sorry to interrupt those fascinating stories.

Here is a video shot by our exclusive UK reseller, Beyond HD:

This is shot with one of the pre-prod sample. Bear in mind that we twisted the rotation axle of the exoarms to have their elbow curves come closer by 10".
Yet, you will discover the "OCTOPUS TECHNIQUE" in this video on how to worm through tight spaces.

Ok, that's all from me. You may resume to personal stories / conspiracy theories / negative prejudices / racist thoughts...

Awesome!

Looking great in my eyes. Thanks for posting this.

A video taking the time to show the workings of the Exo in detail, that's great! For me, just what I needed; thanks Pièrre! Incredible also how elegant the current model looks compared to the Arnold Schwarzenegger thing from IBC 2014. Just received the "all set" email; can't wait to use it myself. :-)

A technical question: If you have a really light rig, do you have to push down with your arms to keep the exo-arms from going up? Is there a way to balance the weight of the rig and the counter-weight the exo gives?

Absolutely! You just turn the big octagonal knob on top of the exoarms shoulder.
(Fine-tuning: you can also adjust the length of the spring tensioners and hence the isoelastic response)
