  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

I didn't received news from Pierre. I'll contact him tomorrow. I prefer to have this list to match exactly as theirs, or else it will be hard to manage. That's why you and many others are "pending" at the moment, because money has been sent.

Thanks for the update & efforts Bérenger!

I sent Pierre a PM yesterday, but have seen these questions / similar out here in the thread too... I totally understand that Pierre / L'Aigle must be super busy at this stage of releasing the product, but I would love to get an answer on this please, and clear this up for everyone:

When are the balance payments actually due by? For example, could be: A) all due right away (without seeing a frame of footage shot with the rig), B) all due by the expected ship start-date (April __), C) we each get an expected ship date and payment is due X weeks prior.

There are different ways of handling this, and many are already hopping on board sending money without clear terms. That is a great sign of faith in an established company. I would just like some clarity around the payment / admin / fulfillment please.

There also appears to be some upset over this, and before anyone casts judgement, I would like to know: Are they actually waiting for 100% of the group balances before shipping any of the GB units?

Thanks Bérenger, Pierre, and Carey for all the hard work thus far! Great to see us getting closer!

and here is the Quick Video: https://youtu.be/gQ9IFYFI4Aw

we have only had it for a very short period of time, so haven't been able to test it a lot. but it has been definately made much nicer than the previous version, and it works awesome:)

I know you haven't tested it, but your average door is about 80 cm and range mostly from 73cm to 93m. If you get a chance, could you please tape measure the exo arm width when suspending your gimbal. If it's too wide, perhaps there's some technique to deal with this (ie. sliding the ends tighter or something). These and many unanswered questions are what's perhaps delaying full payment.

Paid in Full today via bank transfer (will probably take a few days to appear in the L'Aigle account as it did when I paid the deposit).

I've been patient. But could someone please answer the doorway question? It doesn't even require a full test, just a tape measure. I can get a Fisher 10/11, every Pee Wee, any slider, a steadicam, an AP Runner, a tiltamx armor man, etc through a doorway. I track through doorways at least once per film if not more. If anyone doesn't see this as of vital importance than you are not a working cameraman. Please, no guesses, or speculation. Throw me a bone that measures less than 28" (low side for US door).

I urge Pierre to PLEASE answer this question for Ned, and everyone else. When holding onto the gimbals handles, what is the width of the Exoskeleton at its widest point?

Thank you Pierre!

WTF ? Carey is there some wierd non disclosure thing going on here between you and Pierre ? I personally don't care that much about the doorway thing but it seems to be pretty important to everyone else. I'm guessing that you can't say for some reason or you would have by now as it is pretty easy to tell if you have had it on your back. I don't get it, I understand Pierre thinking that Red user is not the center of the universe but if it was my business i would be all over it.

since you have 1 minute to ask Piere, take another 10 sec to answer the question , you already tested correct?
Also seeing the video posted here, I d like to see the Ronin or a Movi at eye level, and when someone actually achieves that with out having the back of the Gimbal on his face, I would like to see a 90 degree pan of the handles to shoot side wise.
If not 90 degree even 60 degrees , 45 degrees, any degrees?
If that is not possible at high mode maybe...lower?
last is all that squeaking when the arm booms up and down acceptable ? or shall people put subtitles to their videos to avoid that?
Thats very few of the many questions I have seeing this video, which are very clear to me, but maybe they need to be answered here for a few people that asked them all ready?
Instead of showing a Museum item , maybe you should show first a rig that can do what an operator needs to do with it?
regards

Hopefully, at this late date in the group buy, the questions and concerns being voiced here are from those involved in the group buy and not just outsiders creating issues were there are none. I agree, the people with the money on the line for this product,in this group buy, should have their questions answered. All others will have plenty of time to do their own research as the units get out into the world.

Constatine, as far as you are concerned, you are only here to create problems and for obvious reasons, its kind of annoying. You really should just stick to your great products, they speak for themselves. In the end, people will buy whatever works best for them and their particular needs.

Well, in all fairness, the GB started with claiming "You have full range of motion as if you were just holding the gimbal without any support. This is the only other product on the market that allows you full range of motion with no limitations, other than the AP Runner. The Easyrig, McRig, Raptor Adaptor, Serene arm etc. are all nice products, but the are limiting in range of motion.".. When you ask people to put down their money for product A, touting this, saying product B cant do this, I think Constantine has a right to ask product A to show their claims.

This.

Thanks Carey,
You truly have done great work on this gb and I have thanked you on numerous occasions both public and private. I don't really understand your hard line on this, your on a shoot but apparently you have some free time. Why not share some thoughts with us, we are all still going to watch your video regardless of when you post it ! Turn your thoughts into teasers like "when you see this in the video you'll see", etc. I have paid for my unit partially because of your efforts and also from what I've seen on line, it's a no brainer, total easy rig killer at a fraction of the price, especially once you figure in all the add ons that an easy rig needs to get close to the capabilities of the exo for a heavy rig. So, back to my not understanding your hard line, whats up ?
Aloha

Every time you refer to an easyrig killer , I will ask my questions. Simple as that.

prove it, after all you will boost the sales and make all those people pay in full and make the GB successful so you can all benefit. just like AP did.

Easyrig and exo are two different things. You don't have the same way of shooting.
And even though your questions are valid, you, as a builder/seller, are not. Especially with a constant reminder.

It's not about quality of stabilisation, though the walking effets is still visible when object are near the camera with Easyrig and Serene.

Easyrig with gimbal is extremly limited in motion, and quite dangerous with its high center of gravity. With a serene, much less limited, but as dangerous.
It's simply easier to shoot with an exo, AP or l'Aigle. Easier and cheaper (well at the time of the GB, now it's similar).

Like other, I'm tired of seeing you pop in every threads about stabilization, trying to sell the Serene, or "bitching" about the product the thread is about.

I can see you are not a reduser sponsor, and I know communities where constant commercial attitude like that is getting you banned.

Questions

About the width, I agree we should have an answer, because it looks to be exactly the size of a door.
With a steadicam, it's about the same, you have to shrink in doorways too, so I'm not worried at all.

About the squeak noise at the end of the video, that could be a real problem.

But in all the video, there is no noise except some sort of printer in the background, and random noise, only at the end the exo is not silent.
For now, let's not define the product as noisy.

It still needs to be setup like a steadicam, it can make occasional noise if not setup correclty..
