  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

Hey Carey not quite actually.

I want to know if you can go through doorways in sharp turns, and also do side moves at the same time in compo.

The reason I posted this is that , as Daniel said, its a typical steadicam move , but executed with other tools , in this case the Serene and Easyrig.

So demoing going straight through a door wouldnt cut it Iam afraid.
BTW did I say you can do it at home? you dont even have to have actors, Iam sure you can tell right?LOL Your other half is all you need.

regards

Constantine, how about laying off Carey? Seriously, he is busy and this is a new product that does not have to do what a Steadicam or a Serene and Easyrig do. There are those of us, me being one, who will never be Steadicam operator and/or have tried the Easyrig/Serene and find it not suitable. Give those of us who have invested in this project- Carey being the braveheart, time to work out what it does do. I know from seeing it at IBC, where I also saw your rigs, that it will do moves relating to dancing, with the Letus Helix, that no other rig up until now can do. Give peace a chance.

As a reminder, you will all get a proforma invoice on monday via email (check your spam folder).
The list will then be updated with “Paid”, as payments are confirmed.
As soon as “boarding” is complete, shipments will start. Hopefully last week of march.

Wonderful, thanks for the update Pierre! Two follow-up questions regarding the process please:

1) What will your manufacturing & shipping capacity be for these new units? In other words, how many per week will you be sending out? This will help us to back-time our ETA, based on the master list.

2) When will the final invoice be due? I'm sure that the preference is "right away", but depending on the manufacturing/shipping capacity (see Q.1), someone at the end of the list might not see their units until June, so do they still need to pay in March? Or should it just be 1 week before your estimate ship date? Just wondering how you'd like to structure that.

Thanks again.

But let’s try and keep this positive on the last few meters of that marathon (it was a marathon for us at least). ... If you are not part of the GB and feel a itch to express in advance negativity, prejudice or doubts, please just refrain from doing so and wait for actual users to express themselves about the actual product. Thanks!

:hurray:

One of the things I'd like to see has nothing to do with its operation or effectiveness. How about showing us the process of putting it on? It was billed as a one man process. I'd like to see how it's done and just how easy it is.

Thanks.

You slip into it like a back pack, while it's on the included stand, tighten the waist belt, then lift it off the stand. It's very straightforward. I do it with no help. On set, I would always have my AC there to help me. But it's not necessary.

Scott I asked a simple request , that Carey will or will not do. It was a request based on all statements from Carey that he will produce footage to show all of the community what it can do. So its a simple request , interesting moves actually, doesnt have to be executed, so to be clear.

And because you mention it, did you actually tested the rigs mentioned at IBC? Isnt your goal to make stable moves? I believe this is what most of the folks buying all relative equipment are after?

dont get this as pressure to Carey. Its a request nothing more to it. Carey doesnt have a problem with this, why should you?

thanks

Constantine - perhaps if every one of your posts didn't mention Serene, they would seem genuine. I scoured the purchase list for your name and didn't see it. Did I miss something?

I understand you are very impatient, your arms are tired and your back hurts

You can send your concerns about your own deposit or payment to Carey or me privately, if you please.

Thanks Pierre, can't wait to Pi(er)rouette.

PM'd you.

Hey Terry , the reason I mentioned it is because , they have been also mentioned from both Folks Carey and Ketch , at this very thread, and were brought into comparison, more than once, with the exo device. So since its mentioned, I just state this to be clear , with what the video was shot, so people dont think its shot with a steadicam rig, as Daniel is a steadicam operator also.

I hope its more clear now.

To be specific, I asked one of the Bears at IBC to be a Dancing Bear and do a very common Ballet move. To be blunt- fail.

I refer to this...
And by the way, I predict the death of the Easyrig. I've owned two of them and they are cumbersome and very limited in their ability. They had a good run, but that's yesterdays tech... The Exoskeleton is now.

Scott are you refering to the Gorilla guy from easyrig? That wasnt any of our company demonstrator?

he didnt even had a Gimbal you guys use, and it was his first time ever work with the equipment from us. But in any way , did you meet Peter or me? sorry to be off topic.

Just try to remember if me or Peter ever met you and have been asked to make any kind of dancing moves.Though I hardly look like a bear, more like a medium size monkey rather :scared:

thanks

I refer to this..
I have been saying this form years ago, after first trying out a Military grade Exo form Israel... Easy what??

Extremely happy we finally have great Exo design for our Industry.

This is a thread about a group buy for the exoskeleton. I have seen threads all about the Serene and the Easy Rig. If you want to ask about the capabilities of the Exo, why mention the others? If you want to tout what the Serene can do, there is ample place to do that elsewhere. But, your constant requests for "tests" that, by implication (because you always mention the name) , the Easy Rig/Serene can do, it simply looks like you are trying to find a way to declare your product capable in a way that this one is not.

I will complement you on your willingness to quote others who have found your system lacking. LOL

well Terry, the others you are referring to, have to test the equipment to find it lacking in the first place.

But to cut it short , Iam interested to see what moves the Exo can do and how well, and many others might also want to see this.

since it was compared, and since both have been mentioned on this thread, not only from me, its very interesting to see a comparison test.

Carey hasnt got a problem with this, he has been saying this many times, and Iam sure he wants to show all the capabilities of the Exo, for your benefit also.

He has enough experience with steadicam and his experience with owning 2 gimbals is something that makes him the man for this. If he has a Helix even better.

But he is the right person to do this.

I stand by my prediction. The sequence shot you showed me going through hallways and doorways etc. is good, but not perfectly rock solid all the way through. It loses stability in a couple of spots. Could Daniel have nailed that exact shot without losing stability? Probably with more takes. But I'm only speculating based on my experience. If I were directing that shot, I would have demanded more takes until we nailed it.

Very true , what you say is correct. Daniel him self said that when he posted the video. Nothing secret . Perhaps he can answer to that again, to answer your question, if you dont want to read again his post. Thats why I asked for a similar shot, from someone that has enough experience to pull this maybe even better. thank you Carey. Iam sure you will provide a good testing video.

I believe your questions should be directed to Carey via PM or another method. Those of us whom have participated in this GB are not looking for comparisons to your product rather we check back here for information about the EXO.

Nothing personal, this is borderline trolling this thread.

We don't really want to read bickering between you two.

Hey Daniel, I think both Carey and me are both communicating on this thread very civil and with out bickering.
It has been brought up and Carey answered with out a problem.

Iam sorry I have in any way annoyed you with my posts. I made a simple request , and Carey replied with out a problem.

Others might have a problem so I apologise for this. maybe a new thread is more approp as you say.

thank you.

I am sorry to hear that you are too busy to uphold your written commitment, Carey. There are some of us who paid a deposit, and are still shown as not paid. It may seem trivial to you, but to a paying customer it is a basic professional courtesy. Is taking 30min out of your day impossible? It seems you've spent more time responding to posts just this morning. It more and more seems like you did this for the free unit, not for the benefit of the REDUSER community.

Thankfully Pierre has been very responsive and communicative privately. That is the only thing that has kept me from dropping out.

I shouldn't even dignify this post with a response, but I have to set you straight.

I have put hundreds of hours into this group buy. It's insulting that you would suggest that I work hundreds of hours for 2, 000 Euro. I make that in a day. So my motivation is clearly not what you suggest.

I don't work for peanuts. I work because I'm passionate about filmmaking and these new filmmaking tools. I'm passionate about new tech that can help us filmmakers to do what we love with the best gear available.

I don't work for L'Aigle. If I did, I would be paid for my efforts and it would be a lot more than 2, 000 Euro.

I will say this one last time: if you paid, and you have a receipt, you are good. You will get you Exoskeleton when your number is up.

I'm done commenting on this matter.

Now, I am arriving at my location to shoot.

I wrote this on my iPhone enroute because I don't like being insulted when I am doing all of this testing for the greater good of this community.

Edit: If it makes you feel any better, I marked you as paid - your name was not on any of the lists I received from Pierre... it was lost in translation. Sorry for that. I had no clue you were not marked as paid. Now you are. As it stands, you are the 32nd person to receive your unit. I hope that eases your mind.
