Group Buy - Hexolux LED Spotlights

Hey Guys,
I'm getting PM's with questions about this GB. Go ahead and post on this thread so Peter and others can see the Q&A's.
Cheers!

Hi Stacey,

We will post the TLCI by tomorrow. Thanks for the note on the link!

Here's my question - Can the lights be used with any existing light due to the heat (or lack thereof), i.e. is it safe.

I'm especially interested in the umbrella attachment - does it take any umbrella type? I have some photo ones already that I use a lot, would be cool to just slot them in (standard 8mm shaft).

Also I'm presuming it's super easy to connect the two units together into essentially one light?

+1 on a video showing how you attach them to make an array. I can't think how the threaded bolts could work, so maybe it's some sort of rear bracketry?

I know you guys are trying to keep special orders to a minimum. Does this mean it won't be possible to specify AB mount for the battery plate? That would be great for those that primarily work with AB and don't want to purchase additional gear for the light kit.

At the moment I'm not seeing the AB plate listed online in the store, just v-mount. Is this a proprietary plate/cable for the hexolux light? Is it a similar cost to the vmount?

Thanks for the help,

Steve

We have AB Gold Mount as well. We presumed the V-Mount would be the majority for RED users. Please add in the notes on the order that you would like the AB Gold Mount instead and we will put that in. Or email if you already ordered.

Our hope with the design of the Hexolux system is to be as universal as possible - so you can use standard 4-pin XLR DC power between 12-24V, we provide the battery plates so it is easy to attach a battery to the light or with the included pincer clamp to a stand.

The lights only have heat in the first inch, any further out and there is no appreciable heat. So it works with photo gear designed for strobes, etc.

Any umbrella will mount/work. The umbrellas we have in the shop are just the best/most efficient we have found, but whatever you have will work. There are two umbrella mounts built into the Illuminator and two more on the 7" Tilt Shift Lens - so you can do a clam shell super soft light by shooting the light into a silver umbrella and then diffusing that through white translucent umbrella.

You can bolt the units together with 1/4-20 hardware - very easy to find in any hardware store. We can send a pack if you ask. You can also use camera quick release plates, making the transition from a team of lights to individual lights practically instant.

I'll try to do a video soon...

Hi Pete,

On the TLCI-2012, it says 98 @ P2951. Do you have results for the daylight version? Also, the comparison link to other LEDs is broken. I assume you are trying to point to: http://www.cineolighting.com/index.php/pages/light_lab/103

Here are some other TLCI-2012 results as well: http://www.gtc.org.uk/tlci-results.aspx

Assuming all TLCI-2012s are run the same, then the Hexolux Tungsten is clearly better than the Arri L7 series.

TLCI is up for the Daylight:

Good Evening Fellow RED's

After working with (on grinding on) the fine gents at Hexolux we came up with this smokin deal for RED Users:
  • Two D7 Daylight Fresnels
  • Two Barndoors
  • One Hexagon pop-up softbox
  • One V-Mount Battery Plate
  • In a Pelican Case
All of that goodness for $4000 . . . which means you are getting all the accessories (like over $1300 worth) for free!!

They will ship International which is really cool

I feel that the 2 head deal is a great starting kit that can be added on easily. I'm going to order an extra incandescent temp based head so I'll have 3 point lighting with the ability to contrast color temps.

First come first serve so get your order in pronto. After NAB these guys are going to be slammed so it's great we're getting ahead of that deal.

BTW: I'm making the trip up North to visit with the team at Hexolux and to give you guys another video look at their company.

All good in RU land tonight!! Here's the private link to the store:

THIS DEAL ONLY RUNS FOR ONE WEEK STARTING . . . NOW!!!

If you want in on this deal put your order in TODAY!!

Couldn't resist. :-)

Pete - as I mentioned in my order, can I come by your office to pick up my order?

Thank you very much

Fury

Thank you everyone for the orders! You can email me at pete@hexolux.com or PM/post here on the forum if you have any questions of any sort.
And thanks especially to Josh for having the idea and setting this up!!

Pete,

Thankyou for taking the time to field our questions.

When you there eventually exists an upgrade to the LED on the D7 (eg with higher TLCI values) - are you anticipating these can be purchased from yourselves & swapped as a replacement 'bulb' - or would require a complete '$2k' replacement?

Thanks,

AJ
