  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey everybody,
Just want to throw in my 2cents here while we still got 9.5hrs.

In the past few months, I've worked closely with numerous DP's and Operators, some starting out in the gimbal world, and some industry veterans, working on various commercials, tv, and features. Although the Ronin2, like all products aren't perfect, it may be a bit larger, and heavier than the predecessor, but it is now an industrial equipment able to carry a fat payload, I've seen it sustain 30lbs+, with the performance compared to a flight head.

When we shot "Legacy" w/ Claudio Miranda, the Ronin2 was rock solid. The reason we chose to do the short, as you may already know, in addition to creative storytelling; is to show the robustness of the new Ronin, being able to sustain the vicious set environment, and more importantly, demonstrate the performance on various platforms from cablecam, to handheld, to mounting on a car, and back to handheld all in one shot. We used an electromagnet constructed by the Key Grip and Gaffer for the sake of easy handoffs. However, there are many 3rd party options to enhance your experience with the Ronin2.

Everything on the Ronin2 is more integrated now. The slip ring allows power and an SDI signal to pass through the gimbal without any cables tethered from the top to the bottom. Able to power the camera, whether you have a Weapon, Dragon, or even a Red One, directly from the Ronin2' 14.4v power port, and the ability to power up your pool of accessories, is pretty badass.

Chris did a kickass job putting this Group Buy together. Awesome that Paul Pan @ DJI agreed to finally have one of these.
NOTE: The largest discounts you'll see at DJI available to the public is 5% off at select trade shows on select products. The Ronin2 is new, you won't see this kind of discount anywhere for a while. I highly recommend getting on this list if you're on the fence. It's proven itself over and over again in the prototype stages by multiple respected DP's.

Also important to note, I've officially parted ways with DJI since March of this year after being with them as the US Marketing Director since November 2013. If my opinion means anything to you, know that moving forward, it's all unbiased.
