SPECS
  • Recent purchase of a DSMC 2 Helium 8K with a touch screen monitor from friend
  • Purchased Core Nano X Micro 98 and Micro 150 to power. Uses Gold Mount. System shows it running at 15.1v
  • I also tested the RED power supply, system shows camera running at 16+v.
PROBLEM
  • When using RED power supply after a shut down using battery power, the touch screen goes grey after showing the logo on boot. It will remain grey regardless of switching back to battery power, switching out cable, trying side connection. The grey screen only clears after a camera reset holding the power button for 20 seconds.
TEST PROCEDURE
  1. Boot camera on battery power. Shut down. Reboot. Everything normal.
  2. Remove battery, plug in power supply, boot. GREY SCREEN after logo.
  3. Shut down, unplug power supply, re-attach battery. Boot. GREY SCREEN after logo.
  4. Camera reset. Works normal
  5. This time, I only use power supply, boot, shut down, boot, shut down. Everything normal.
  6. After shut down, I switch out power supply, boot from battery. Normal. Shut down. Then take off battery, plug in power supply, grey screen. Only works after a camera reset.
Help? My friend says he did not really ever use the power supply and this never happened to him.

I tried but because the camera is older (I'm guessing) it would not let me fill out a ticket. I registered everything, serial number, etc.

Try connecting the camera to it's A/C power-supply. Keep it connected for 24 to 48 hours. You don't have to turn the camera on. Just keep it plugged-in for that duration. Thereafter, unplug, wait for 10 minutes or so, power-up the camera. If symptoms remains, call RED support at:

They are extremely helpful regardless of when or how long ago you purchased your camera.
