I used Clipfinder to bring in my H proxies into FCP.
Everything PLAYS fine, except when I STOP or SCRUB the timeline, it will look like this:

weird.jpg

It seems to come and go. When I restart FCP, it's fine. Then it starts to do this. Then it goes away, then it comes back, etc., etc., etc.

What I have noticed is that it doesn't do this in the Viewer, only in the Canvas window.
Which means it has something to do with the timeline or sequence settings and not the actual clips themselves.

I followed the white sheet and my sequence presets are as follows:

2048x1024
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Editing Timebase: 23.98
Quicktime Video Settings: Apple ProRess 422 (HQ)
Enable 4:4:4 chroma filtering: ON
Render 10-bit material in high-precision YUV: ON
Unlimited RT
Scrub High Quality
Playback Video Quality: Dynamic
Playback Framerate: Full

OS X: Leopard 10.5.6
Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
REDCODE QT Codec v3.5 INSTALLED
RED Final Cut Studio Installer INSTALLED

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT:

It just seems that the green bars come and go over time. I'm not sure if there is something that triggers it to happen. But it just seems completely random. Sometimes it'll be PERMANENT in the timeline, regardless of PLAYING or PAUSING....sometimes the green will appear on the PAUSED frame but be fine when PLAYING, and sometimes it will be green will be on the PLAYING, but not the PAUSED.

How can I UNINSTALL the Final Cut Studio Installer!??!?!

ANY HELP?!?!

Anyone?

Anyone?

I want to bump this topic up to the top again and see if any one else has any ideas or responses on this issue.

I'm getting this, too. I've also noticed that this glitch shows up under a few scenarios: If I set the playback video quality too high ('low' usually works) while displaying an R3D file that's been imported via the 'log and transfer' window as Red suggests—the green lines show up. But I also see it with ProRes422(HQ) video that's come back from Color at 2K, and if I try to use the keylight plug-in on it. So it must be a final cut or mac issue, and not specific to R3D files. I'm guessing it has to do with the video card somehow, or the mac, but I haven't found anything else online about this bug. I'd like to know if it really is a video card problem before spending any money on an upgrade of some kind.

EDIT: With the prores & keylight glitch scenario, I noticed that I can get the green lines to go away only if I shrink the sequence size down to 1920x1080. So it must have to do with final cut or the video card with too much data/info somewhere.

I'm using an 8-core mac pro 3.0 GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card w/ 256 MB VRAM.

Does anyone know if this requires a video card upgrade? I'm just using the stock video card that came with the Mac Pro.

We are using either ATI X1900 or 3870 in all our machines and I've never seen that issue. Those cards have 512 MB RAM.

I can try a key on weekend, we never keyed in FCP.

The 3870 is not much faster than the X1900, but if you upgrade now, it should be the one to get.

FYI: I just installed the ATI 3870 video card into my Mac Pro, and I'm no longer seeing the green vertical lines at all. Thanks Uli.
