Hi anyone have any suggestions for a RED green screen post workflow ?
Editing (and probably keying) on FCP, Compositing on After Effects (PC). outputing to PAL

200gb worth of rushes (if that helps clarify the situation)

Done an offline with proxies so far.

Thanks in advance

Keying in FCP? You're kiddin' !

Do the edit in FCP, move to CS4 by XML and key in AE with keylight on native footage.

Or get a better keyer for FCP…

Seconded, Uli. Even the Keying in Motion is rubbish. Keylight for AE is far, far better. Just comp your greenscreen first in AE, then export and assemble in FCP or PP, whatever you're happier with.

Yeah, but Shake can't read native RED, while CS4 can…

Agreed... with Ben and Nomad....

Agreed too, i just hope they get shake to work native with RED, the keying in Shake is SO far from AE, and far far away from Motion.

BTW, i having problems sending the XML to AE, im throw the Clipfinder way, any suggestions?

Go through PPro first.

A haha, but i got the problem with Clipfinder. And if i just send it to PPro, i get is the proxies and not the .R3D

Currently doing a full length feature film shot on RED 100% green screen.

I tested and re-tested workflows and keying filters.

Feature film is REPO CHICK the quasi squeal to REPO MAN

Final decision has been

Final Output is 1080p HDCam SR
we
Transcode in RedRushes ProRes422 HQ 1080p every single clip all the way threw.
800GB of footage more or less.
Edit in FCP
Used KeyLight for FCP to key out green screen. KeyLight is available for FCP now.
YES After Effects Keylight is ideal but Keylight in FCP has been wonderful and kept our workflow simple.
Finish in FCP.
If there is any need to do a few comps or clips with more profound effects we can send that 1 or 2 clips to AE and send back to FCP.

We are still in the composting phase so this is a work in progress.

Due to budget and keeping things simple this workflow has been our favorite.

Feature will be out some time this summer Ill keep updates when possible and show clips when aloud.

Good luck.

thanks Luis and everyone for their advice
my team and i will be shooting a full green screen "choose your own adventure "video" game" in may, so we're gearing up for that, almost 100mins of footage. the info you all have shared will come in handy.

regards
jason
