What's remarkable about this is... I'm shooting strobe! Yeah-Huh... Excuse me if I get a little giddy over this. The Epic does not yet have any sort of strobe sync enabled. I just let it roll and popped the flash while it was shooting.
Awe Some Ness.
DSMC is a change to conventional still photography.
Jim
Traditional flash sync is not possible with EPIC due to the rolling shutter (doesn't matter how fast the read-reset is). Long duration flashes will be necessary. Since you will be extracting stills from a motion stream, that will require continuous lighting.

I keep wanting to dump my strobes and go all constant sources, but they are so much easier to dial in with 1/10th stop digital variators with wireless control. Being able to shoot Epic in Studio with Flash is Huge. Actually, eventually having real flash sync will make it perfect on location when you need a precise ambient exposure in addition to the strobe. The one thing strobe will always have over constant lighting is the ability to overpower any ambient light by just jacking up the shutter speed. My view camera shutters will sync with strobe up to 1/500th of a second. Of course none of this is applicable to motion work.
By the way, Perry, that's an Arca Swiss M Line 2 with a Phase One P65+.

Tonaci, that's the MMB-1 with a top-load stage conversion, nice and light for the Epic and very capable.
