  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Grateful for Red's firmware updates

and I have too say that costumer services ROCKS...
thanks

1000% agreed on Tonacci

I'm very grateful for the free updates too, but people need to remember that Arri's customers are typically rental houses and not owner/operators like RED's customers - and rental houses can quite easily ROI the cost of upgrading their cameras. This clearly gives RED a competitive advantage. I find it quite remarkable that Arri has chosen to go with the paid software upgrades now that RED is the market, but it's still a little like comparing oranges to lemons (which can grow on the same tree at the same time, btw). However - it certainly is a good PR approach for RED to say that they're giving free upgrades while the competitor isn't. Now - I personally don't see the Alexa as a competitor because I don't rely on getting rental for my MX anymore - and also - seriously... it's a 1080p/2K camera at double the price of an MX ;-)

+1M ... Thank you so much!!!

It's easy to take it for granted and it takes a friendly reminder from other companies to realise again on how much of a luxury it is...

While I prepare for purchasing a RED camera I have RedCine X Pro to play with and R3D files graciously supplied by many so I can be familiar with the RED workflow. It has me hooked on RED for a long time. Thank you very much for your software!

as I looked at the REDCINE-X that I downloaded for free I kept asking to myself...ok where is the catch?

This software is amazing...kinda makes one feel guilty for using it and not paying a dime for it. :)

Honestly, I can't think of any other company giving away tools like that...

Bravo RED

On ibc2011 a Guy told me Red won't survive the next 3 years due to bad service. Hello???? Free Upgrades, amazing cameras, always giving us information about their latest plans. Come on pinhead, buy yourself an ale....! Thanks Red for Making my Dreams come true!
