hi guys

i received my LCD today and noticed something that seems unusual to me...i hope I am wrong and its not a hardware problem....

on certain colour temperature settings, the image in the EVF and on the LCD becomes veeerrry grainy.

I attached two screen shots where you can see the temperature settings. The first one is less grainy with a higher temperature and the second one is...well..really grainy.

when i increased the ISO..the blue grain became less apparent and when i went down below 2000K the whole image had a bluish tint.

This shot was taken in my room with normal tungsten lighting.

is there something wrong with my camera ??

thanks for any help.

Hi Dominik

Doesn't look like a hardware problem to me, this high ISO / tungsten combination of settings giving grain is pretty normal for the Red camera.
The chip is daylight balanced and rated at about 320 ISO . The blue channel is usually the noisiest on any digital camera so when you underexpose 2 stops and then expose under tungsten light ( which has much less blue than daylight ) the chip is really not getting much exposure on the blue channel at all. Then when you do an in camera colour balance you turn down the usable red/green channels and boost the underexposed blue channel massively you get this extreme grain, does this make sense. Correction filters or going with tungsten being warm is the go.
