  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Graeme's magic...

It still amazes me that so many people continue to argue about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin regarding so many aspects of the various cameras and miss the fundamentals, specifically the power of shooting raw. Shot that three years ago on a baked in codec, guess what, it will never get any better.

Shot it last year to ProRes on a very good camera, same answer.

RedCode is arguably more important than even the remarkable hardware that RED has produces.

Thanks to all, particularly to Graeme.

Steve

REDgamma3 will be an in camera setting...

Jim

Could be something like an enhanced REDLogFilm or RED Log Gamma3 in camera setting adjustment feature

with a "high dynamic range, flat image quality, low contrast and subdued sharpness"

that also can be used with a clean full raster 1080 HD-SDI/HDMI out for external recording???!!!

Can you imagine 1080p/2K 300 fps REDLogFilm to record with Sound Devices PIX 220 and PIX 240 in Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD!!!

Is there a particular reason why you would prefer a 1080 feed rather than a 5k RAW file?

Graeme never stops... Truly a wizard. I've spent a lot of time lately while I get acclimated to the workflow trying to see the Progression of Redspace to RedColor1/RedGamma1 to RedColor2/RedGamma2/RedLogFilm... It's truly remarkable. I remember downloading footage before build 16 and after and seeing the huge improvements. And all of that same footage just keeps getting better.

High Resolution Capture is the heart, but This is absolutely the true soul of the Red system. Everything Changes... Including the quality of the footage ;)

Graems work with constantly improving the development of R3D is without precedent. Over and over again it has turned some of my RED ONE M material that was previously unusable into totally acceptable shots. Thanks!!!

To add that kind of flexibility and usability that doesn't mean any treadoff the product and in this case is enchanting accessibility and operability for every kind of production environment (from independent, broadcast to feature).

Ok - so now you can let Graeme out of his cage for a bit ;-)
