I am grading a super low budget feature for digital projection at festivals. The producer will send it overseas for DCP mastering. Now I am struggling with the right settings for my monitor.

What I have:
- MacPro with Apple Color
- AJA LHi
- HP Dreamcolor

The AJA goes over HDMI to the Dreamcolor. Now in the control panel there is a button 'output video range' with the settings 'smpte range' and 'full range'. I would expect that full range is the one to go since I am not grading for video, right? But I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.

Secondly, what color space to use? The Dreamcolor has DCI-P3, which if I understand correctly is the space for digital projection, right? But the DCP mastering company is talking about REC709. For this feature REC709 seems good since it has to be a bit desaturated anyway but it would be nice to know if DCI-P3 would work and how.

Then if I use REC709, what do I do with my black levels? Do I calibrate my monitor with a pluge pattern to level the blacks for video or just leave it the way it is - essentially using all levels available?

Any help greatly appreciated!
