Yes sir!!! I'm ready to pre-order :) 2.7K up to 30fps all crammed into a little match box. Crazyness!!!

Can't wait to pre-order tonight. Just bought a Hero2 the other day and it's luckily still all in good shape and will be returned tomorrow. The Hero3 will compliment my other two existing Hero2s nicely!

And hopefully a nice little action cam to compliment impossible Red shots!

Resolution is great but I'm guessing the toy lens and compression will somewhat limit its use. Pretty amazing though!

2.7k at 24 fps 45 m/s ...not bad for 399.00

Wow, did not know you could both change battery and add a battery backpack. Amazing! Also even in the youtube video you can se much less macroblocks!

Can you lock the exposure on these cams or is it stuck on automatic?

I ordered 4 of them. ...to start with.

Love the Hero2 cameras, can't wait to get the Hero3 Blacks. Nice to see they're pushing into 4K territory. I bet Hero4 in a year or so does 4K, or quad HD anyway, at 30fps... Yeah, the compression is a bit much at times, but come on. The cameras are so versatile and just plain fun to use everywhere.

And I'm being a bad moderator. This really belongs on a different forum. But I guess it's cool because even GoPro gets 4K and manages to stuff half-speed 4K into a $400 mini-camera.

move it, i was just guessing, but i will say that one of the most beloved DP's that you all constantly talk about loves loves these cameras, so for him it belongs here!

This camera is one AMAZING piece of technology! They are right alongside RED on top of the industry right now...looking down ;)

Can't wait for mine!!! The 2.7K image down sampled to 2K/ 1080p will look fantastic. I was completely and utterly speechless when I watched the demo reel for this camera. I have to admit my GoPro HD Hero 1 never saw much action. It was a great idea for a camera with lots of potential. I wanted it to be something it was not. 3 years later.... and I'm in camera heaven!

The image looks better than ANY DSLR I have ever seen....and it cost me a whopping $430. WOW!!!

The footage looks ace, I can't get over the price - absolute no-brainer.

I'm thinking B cam or a couple as witness cams...

Hey,

I'm so excited that GoPro is pushing the envelop. As a DIT I have to deal with GoPros all the time (my current job is using 15) but I held out on purchasing because the previous two models were still a little annoying to work with. The Hero 3: Black feels like a mature product. I love that it has better specs then most "pro" cameras out there.

GoPros are used on tons of commercials so summarily dismissing them seems silly. GoPros can get shots that full size cameras can't dream of because of form factor and cost. It's about conveying the idea and using the correct tool for the job, right? Of course, Epic is wildly better as an A cam but that's not the point. As an example here's something I just DIT'd that used just about every camera out there (Phantom, Alexa, Epic, GoPro): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQHEc39xR-0

Anyways, I'm very excited about the possibilities this camera opens up and I have pre-ordered a full kit.

Woo!
