Is google voice awesome or what ? I know skype exist and i've been using it for work, but integration with gmail is just dame cool. But the first thing that came into mind when i've installed the app in mac was, is this going to another way i'm going to be monitored by google? or, if some brilliant hacker manage to penetrate google server security, he would not only have my email msg to read but able to see my calling list. And if there a situation where google 'mistakenly' locks me out of my gmail, my life would be more that f***ed.

Very nice integration but i can't figure out what to do with it. should i make the first call?

I really like it. I use it as a local number where I live now (I can't give up my old number, or I'm afraid I might melt!), and use it to manage my voicemail for my two cells (one AT&T, one Verizon). I get text messages containing a transcription of the voicemail. It's pretty nice to be able to get the gist of the message while in a meeting or something.

Would really love to try it. Anyone got a spare greencard?

Hmm. It's enabled on my Gmail-account now. Only calls to the US and Canada are free, but I can call anyone I want for low rates... Calls to landlines in Norway cost 2 US cents a minute.

I've got GV, and an Android. I have my regular # and my GV number is my business line. Awesome, because I can have both working on the same phone, at the same time. If Google were the matrix, I would consider plugging in...unless they go all "Skynet" on everybody.

C.A., what do you mean when you say installed the app on the Mac? I have a Google voice account but it is accessed on the web browser as far I as have seen so far. I haven't quite figured out how to utilize it very well either.

When logged in to gmail, there was a 'phone' icon in the side and when i clicked it, the page directed to a installer page where i need to install GoogleVoiceAndVideoSetup.dmg to begin using it.

Been using Google Voice since back when it was called Grand Central. I use it for my business number but route all calls to my personal iPhone number. The voicemail transcriptions are getting better, but still have a long ways to go. Or maybe people just mumble when leaving messages for me...

Strange. I just checked again, and get
