I am looking for a simple metadata editor (like Clip Finder on a Mac) to access and write .r3d metadata without having to open up Adobe Premiere (to write text data for scene, description, etc.).

Anybody know of anything?

I think perhaps I should have placed this in the "tools" section, if an admin wants to move the thread. :blushing:

From your website:

miniME lets you view the hidden QuickTime metadata in Final Cut Pro XML exports.

What good is this?

1) It only accesses QT metadata
2) You have to access the data from an FC XML export

This is two extra programs (on top of miniME that you have to go through to simply access metadata info).

If it's not accessing the .r3d metadata directly, then it's not anything like what I'm looking for.

Thanks, though.

I think there is nothing available yet. Try to get one of the workflow tool guys (Daun or Zeidler) to maybe compile/port their tools for Windows.
Helpful to use one of those Apps every now and then ;-) - lucky if your on the Mac side, especially for those nifty tools.

I'm convinced that in one or two years PC/Premiere will have a much larger portion of the market share and people will be editing feature films on PC's in a much greater capacity.

Unfortunately, I have to edit this film now, and it looks like I'm going to have to abondon my platform and Premiere to purchase a Mac and run Final Cut. There simply are far to many detour-less roadblocks with PC/Premiere, where more of the back roads and shortcuts in Final Cut have been discovered and shared.

Final Cut/Mac wins in the "now" simply because it is being used by more people on more projects, and has been being used by them for a longer period of time.

:frown:
