Can anybody recommend a good machinist in Sydney?

I've got an Element Technica dovetail plate that needs some precision modifications.

Thanks
Dave,

Lovely guy too. Works on films for effects, lighting, various things.
Built a nice stereoscopic projector rig for me, beautifully crafted work.

cheers
Chris

Many thanks Chris....

What are you doing to the plate, out of curiosity?
Turning it into a hunting knife....!!!

I can't store the tripod/head with the dovetail plate loaded on the head, which means I'll need to take it off each time I want to put in back in it's case. Now having to remove/install that locking pin thru one of the threaded mounting holes and into one of two screw holes in the o'connor head, probably with a light because everything is black, will not be fun and just a pain in the butt and won't be done if it's hired out.

I've discussed the following mod with ET which they're probably adopt, or some form of it.....up to them!

On the bottom of the dovetail you have an enclosed gutter where the o'connor locking screw is recessed into and which allows the dovetail to slide back and forth but prevents the dovetail from sliding off the oconnor head cos the gutter is blocked at both ends.
On the end with the spring loaded lever, mill out/extend the gutter (down the middle of the dovetail) right to the end...so it is opens at the end where the spring loaded lever is..
Next, you know that spring loaded lever that extends out the top side of the dovetail only....I'm suggesting extending it out the bottom side of the dovetail, so it can block the open ended gutter you'll just created ...as well as it's usual job of stopping the bridge plate (& camera!) from sliding off the dovetail.

Cheers,
Dave,

Met him and discussed what had to be done....nice guy.
Just haven't had the opportunity to give him the camera for a couple of days. Will soon.
