So every once in a while I'm asked to do some two camera coverage of a talking head or something similar. I don't want to spend a ton on another camera but I would like something that may intercut pretty decent with the Scarlet. I have all Canon lenses so that's a factor. Would a GH3 be a good bet? Has anyone tried it? Also I'd like a dslr as it would be nice to just have in the lens bag. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Do they have Canon lens controls for MFT yet? I've been out of that game a bit. I know they were in the works when I first had the AF-100, but no idea if those ever came out.

There are a bunch of cheapo ef to mft that basically have an iris built in so you leave the canons locked wide open and then adjust the adapters manual iris ring. Not sure how well they work but for under $50 it'd be worth a shot. Red rock also makes a electronic one but it's 600.

Make friends with an EPIC owner....

Actually, RED One images cut very nicely with Scarlet material.

Well being in Milwaukee the Red community can fit in a Prius, so I don't have a ton of options. Also these requests usually are for shoots when I'm out of town, so having an extra little dslr in my bag would be key. I need something light and can travel easily, plus it'd be nice to have something that I can take decent personal videos with where I don't have to break out the Scarlet. One such occasion would be brother in laws destination wedding where the family guilted me into doing some video. It's going to be shitty enough flying with a 2 year old and all her crap for 5 hrs let alone a Scarlet kit with lenses and such.

I'm buying a 5DIII to go with my Scarlet & One.

With the rate that raw hack is being updated, I'm holding onto the belief that it'll be stable (with audio) in the next few weeks.

People are complaining about file sizes, but for music videos and commercials where clients buy their own drives, I could care less!

I've been considering a Blackmagic as a b-cam because I think raw/log recording is the most important factor - if you have to do ANY compromise grading to the Scarlet footage so they match, then the overall image quality has suffered. That's why I've stopped using my 5D MkII for the purpose... Very curious to see if the MkIII recording uncompressed would alleviate the issue, at least in a talking-head situation.

Used a three camera setup for a couple of interviews - Red One + Scarlet + Mark II for additional shots (usually wide).
The Mark II cuts pretty well with the other two but adds another step to the whole process - it's pretty easy to grade the Red footage but matching the Mark II colour wise can be a bit of a pain at times.
Still, you can get a Mark II pretty cheap these days, and apparently the RAW hack will be applied to that in the near future as well, albeit with a slightly cropped resolution (I think something like 1920 x 720 or something to that effect).

My Scarlet B-cam is a Battle Tested Scarlet! Main reason for this (other than amazing value) was that I needed a direct backup for single camera shoots, in case someone drops the A-cam. Very useful things.

Well if another Scarlet is too pricey then a EF model BMCC would be a great B Cam. Gets you Resolve, and great images. US supplies are reasonable of it to.

I haven't done too much research on the BMCC, so does anyone know the added costs? Media and periphrials?
