  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Good affordable monitor for Dragon. Looking at Sony 17" LCD 1080p.

Thanks. I had forgotten about them. Assume they can work as a production field monitor not just desktop.

FSI make great field monitors, but they do have a longer frame delay than the Panasonics and Sonys. Probably because of all the extra processing inside. Can be frustrating for clients, directors, focus pullers, jib ops, etc. I'd say having sound dept provide coms for director and client with a several frame delay for audio is a requirement when using the Flanders. For DPs and gaffers who just want to see a large HD image with scopes and other exposure tools, the Flanders is terrific.

There is a setting for fast processing on the FSIs that resolves most/all of the delay, and with that on my ACs have been able to pull focus very well actually.

I'm a Flanders owner and I was not aware. Very helpful, thanks!!

If you're looking at Sonys, I would suggest trying to get into an OLED. You'll get more use out of it down the road. Though, I am partial to my FSI OLED.
