  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Gone Girl Footage (Shot on Dragon)

I understand the art and creativity part, but absolutely hated this trailer. :)

This didn't seem to me to be a trailer so much as it was scenes cut together from the full trailer to promo ET's coverage.

Not that it would change your opinion of the look but the full trailer may show a considerably wider palette.

In the documentary film "Side by side" Fincher at one point makes a reference to Darius Khondji and how he was at times blown away by his work, specially on Seven. Cronenweth I think has a slightly different approach, and whether we like a neutral palette or not, his approach seems to fit Fincher's form of storytelling very well.

Whenever I watch a Fincher trailer I always say, "why so yellow" "why so blue".

Once I start watching the film I forget.

If your talking in terms of color palette and overall look, Seven is far different than the others you mentioned. That film is beautiful and full of muted color while not having a complete tint to the image like Gone Girl. Zodiac is closer to his more recent films in overall palette. To me, Seven is his best looking film to date. The yellow look in Gone Girl doesn't do it for me at all. Others will disagree but that's why film is art.

I agree, to an extent. But, of course, that depends on precisely which 'Se7en' you are looking at...

As for 'Gone Girl' I really don't think that you can judge it's look based on this flashy 'ET' gobbet. It won't be too long til we get it in 1080p (and better) on YouTube, etc.

And even that judgement will be on the trailer, not the feature. I remember reading someplace (I think was an Ian Vertovec interview, or possibly Michael Cioni) that that excellent first red-band teaser for GDT was graded completely differently from the final film. It appeared 6 months prior to release, with principal photography barely finished. You can really notice the difference if you watch the GDT blu-ray, which is the only place the red-band teaser appears (David Prior stated that it was transferred specifically for the supplements, as it was only released in theatres and never available on-line.)

Waiting...

The poster is off to a good start.

Trailer should be up later today.
