  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Globalmediapro Batteries and Wooden Camera Switronix V-Mount plate compatibility?

Correct, however one must be attached to the camera. 1 Attached, 2 spares, up to 300Wh. This ONLY applies to carry-on. You CANNOT check these batteries in your checked baggage.

Hey Mike,
You'll want the spare batteries to have their terminals covered. Some people say plastic bags are ok. I put a piece of gaffers tape with paper between the actual terminals and the tape.
After reading the news reports of the plane that blew up I would cover the terminals of any lithium battery I brought on a plane just for my own safety.
Cheers,
Sam

For some reason this exact combo of battery/batteryplate is not working properly for me on the Scarlet, battery % only shows up as 0% even fully charged. Don't know quite if it's the plate or the batteries but I'm thinking maybe it's the plate since I have tried several batteries...

We received our Wooden Camera V mount battery components and 3 160wh GolbalMediaPro Red compatible batteries and dual battery GlobalMediaPro charger. They rock! Very happy with them so far. Wooden Camera plates are great quality, as are the GlobalMediaPro batteries. Great to see the remaining battery power percentage on our Scarlet! Performed a test with our Scarlet and 160wh battery. The battery powered the camera for 2hr 45min continuous.... I'm thinking that this might be extended a little longer in a shoot cause the standby fan must drain the battery more than recording... but this logic might be flawed. Anyways, it should be possible to have continuous power with these 3 batteries and a nearby charger.

Hi,

I have for sell, 2 Vlock Wooden camera plate. They are absolutly new (never been used). I bought 6 GMP battery NON red compatible, and they don't work with my Wooden camera Vlock plate but work with the Brook Vlock plate (it is strange, I know, but that is a fact).
So, I bought 2 viewfactor (wich are anyway a very good product too). So, if you need 2 wooden camera Vlock plate, I am selling them for 500 $ plus shipping

Olivier

I have had problems with the GMP. The problem was that they wee sending false data to the Scarlet saying that the battery was 0% charged. Our solution was to trim the data connections in the plate and now everything is perfect (except the camera doesn't show battery percentage).

Hey Olivier and Adam,
I too bought 3 NON RED compatible batteries from GMP(Li160S Lithium ion Battery 160WH) and they wont work with my Switronix/Wooden Camera set up.Can you guys or anyone else confirm that the Viewfactor plate work with these batteries.I am trying to sell them on without much luck so far so if the Viewfactor plate does indeed work it might be another option for me.
Adam,is it the Switronix plate you use and how exactly did you trim the data connections? Just wondering if it would work with the batteries i bought....

Cheers guys

Hi John,

It was the new IDX plate from Cinemaoxide. At first it didn't work but we found out it was the GMP batteries sending the wrong information to the camera (as we tested it with other batteries). If you want to test if you have the same issue as we did try this little rudimentary trick. Cover up the pin which sends the charge information to the camera which, on the GMPs is the third one from the right when placing the camera with the pins pointing down. We cut up a crisp packet of all things, but you just need a thin material which wont tear or break but sleeve the pin. We placed a small bit of the crisp packet over the aligning pin in the plate and powered up the camera. Now what shows up is the voltage of the battery not the charge percentage. For a long term fix we opened up the plate and trimmed the connecting wires.

P.S I would advise you look up the manual/specification of the battery/plate you have to be exactly sure (although we have the exact same battery as you described).

Hope this helps.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the reply.I will try what you suggested to see if it works.Below i have attached a picture that was posted in another thread of the battery type that i have (far left)and as you stated it has the two pins.Just to confirm is it the pin on the left of the picture on the battery that i cover up and do i also need to cover up the aligning pin on the Switronix plate? I take it they also need to taped over the pins somehow to cover them up without the material slipping-i might actually try masking tape to see if it works. Also just to confirm you were saying that you were not getting the charge information-my batteries are not charging my Scarlet at all, just remaining on standby.I still cannot comprehend how the batteries i bought will not work as both the RED compatible and NON RED compatible batteries have the exact same specifications listed on GMP's website.I can only assume that by doing what you suggested in covering up the pins you are somehow tricking the camera to obtain power, albeit not showing battery percentage.
Thanks again for the suggestion and i will let you know how i get on...

John.
