Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask you a quick question about the GMP Batteries.
I've ordered three Li60S Lithium ion 160WH and they are due to ship on thursday.
Ive just noticed on another thread that someone was having a problem with them and someone else responded by saying he might have ordered the wrong type....Li60S instead of Li60S-R type.
Did i do the same thing and should i have in fact ordered the R type...or are the ones i ordered ok for the Scarlet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i want to change my order asap before they ship in the case i DID order the wrong ones...

Thanks in advance,

John Desay.

Do you mean Li160S and Li160S-R? You said Li60S above.

They MAY? work with your camera, but probably don't have the circuitry required to display the battery % info on the camera. You will just see voltage information. If you get the Li160S-R, those are modified with the proper circuitry. This only applies if you have the switronix battery plate. If you have other plates, you won't see that information anyway since the battery plate also must be capable of passing that data from the battery to the camera.

Thanks Mike,
Yes i did mean the Li160S.I could probably live without the % reading if it means saving €100 on 3 and the hassle of trying to get my order sorted before tomorrow.
I will be using the Switronix battery plate....hopefully out of backorder soon-i have a possible shoot on the 6th of next month and trying to get everything in!!

Thanks again for the quick response...

Not to be a jerk, but if you're getting/have the RedMote the ability to see the battery % is sooooo nice. It's incredibly helpful to be able to look down at that redmote and say, "Nope, we don't have another take. Switch batteries."

ahhhh...i have some gmp batts that simply do not work with the epic/scarlet. And have heard of a few others as well, not just gmp. Camera stalls at chart and does not boot up. RED state using third party batts there is no support etc so it's a test first or take a gamble. The R versions of gmp do in fact work and so do some of their others, but for some reason not all. I'm afraid it'll be a fingers crossed, but chances are definitely on your side.

My Li160S (non-R) will NOT power my Epic.
I've often wondered why.

That's odd. I've used a couple of other brand V mounts on my scarlet from various sources and they've all worked.

I'm the one who had problems with their GMP batteries. It's funny, because they worked for a few hours and suddenly stopped working. And when it stopped working, both stopped.

I'll soon be replacing them with 160S-Rs.
