Can anyone give me their thoughts on these? They seem to be the best way to go for powering the Red.

But how does it work in practice, as I guess that they do not pass information on to the RED one, right?

Do you just have to double check the batteries once in a while, and change batteries in advance?

What happens if the battery dies mid-recording? Do you lose the whole take, or just the last few seconds?

I have non red batteries. I check the indicator on the side every once in a while. Normally I just switch batteries every time I do a lighting change. I rotate through 4 and that seems to have worked so far. You don't want to lose power in the middle of a take. You'll probably lose that take but you could corrupt the filesystem and lose other shots too. That's something to think about.

Changing batteries at half full (and when there's a 5 minute break on set anyhow) is probably good practice. I think they recharge faster from there but haven't tested.
