Like several people on the forum I've been looking at the Global Media Pro batteries, as they seem like a bargain. I couldn't work out if their prices were VAT inclusive (for the UK) so I thought I'd contact them. The only way to contact them is to register. So I registered. Then a screen told me that the only way to then contact them was to place an order. This just didn't sit right with me and got me wondering who these guys are. I googled them and found this:

http://global-mediapro.pissedconsumer.com/globalmediapro-sells-fake-items-20100812193580.html

The guy said:

"I ordered 12000 USD video equipment from them. Savings compared to normal dealer pricing was about 5000 USD. It looked almost too good to be true! I paid and received a shiping notice, everything was fine. When the goods arrived to Frankfurt airport for customsclearing, customs seized everything as being counterfited!!!! I paid 1500 Euro fine for attempted import of illegal goods! Worst thing is , they returned everythingback to sender, I received no refund so far, paid the fine, and lost customers due to delays. In the end lesson is, don't buy from shady russian types operating in New Zealand"

Has anyone else had any experience of them? I've read elsewhere on the forums that their own batteries worked well, but I can't say I'd have confidence placing an order now. Perhaps it would work, but I'd be worried a) about getting the delivery b) what the VAT situation would be and c) the warranty situation.

Just received 3x160W and double battery charger. Average feedback from many users is good, so I decided to go the cheap way.
Paid, as expected, VAT when arrived from China.
Items, well packaged, look 95% sturdy and professional compared to higher brands.
Still waiting (today) for V-lock plate adapter so I can't tell you real performance.
But everything looks like it will be ok. Before buying I talked with Blueshape (italian brand serious about batteries like, say, Anton Bauer, but without a big name/brand). They told me what I already knew. You can't expect the best cells to be inside Globalmediapro and you can expect batteries performance dropping earlier during years, but then you really pay a fraction of the price compared to the best ones.
The real problem I see is IF there's a problem with your actual items. Then you'r messed with the known bad customer service.
Cheers

I believe BlueShape are the best of the best of Pro batteries, from my experience.

I've bought a few times from Globalmediapro and have always been happy with them. FYI, the prices on their site do not include VAT, taxes and shipping. But even if you add all these, the prices are still way cheaper than anywhere else for a lot of items.
I've been using 6 V-Mount batteries 160WH (the Red compatible version) on my Red One, my Epic and on some 30x30 lighpanels, and they've always worked perfectly. Plus, they have a P-TAP on the side, which is very useful (just be careful, you can easily plug a P-TAP cable the wrong way if you force it in). Their chargers work fine too, and they work with my Red bricks too. (others said they didn't, so maybe I got lucky...)
So maybe their quality is not as good as other bigger brands, but you could probably buy 2 or 3 batteries from GMP for the price of one from IDX or similar. Same for the chargers.
One downside is that they don't (I think) take credit card as a payment option, so you have to pay by waire transfer, which takes some time. And obviously, if you have an issue with a battery, it will probably cost you more to send it back than to buy a new one. But so far I've been fine.
If I need more batteries (or other items they sell a a good price), I'll definately order from them.

I have one gmp battery and I like that even better then the red bricks on the VF battery plate. I dont like you cant mail them before ordering but I can say that they were fast to deliver.

you can place order nothing going to happen after that they will be sending you a invoice with wire transfer details, if you want to continue the purchase go ahead and do wire transfer otherwise leave it...you are not going to loose anything....
i got my 2X230w with dual charger in less then 10 days, yet to try with scarlet which is suppose to arrive in another 10 days

I was very impressed with GMP. They kept me informed every step. I'm planning on ordering more batteries soon because they work great on my monitor as well.
Read the manual that comes with the dual charger. There is a lot of interesting functionality there.
Cheers,
Sam

Thanks guys. That's good to know. If I need to order some more batteries perhaps I'll order from them. I found a colleague in the end who had some second hand batteries going cheap so I went for those instead.

Cheers

Pete

Waiting to get my dual charger and a 160 brick back after having to ship them to China for repair. Cost me $60.
However, the customer service was excellent and they sent me a single channel charger to cover me while I waited.
Been several weeks now, have received notification they are on their way, but still no items received.
