Hello dear Red user,
did anyone tryed charging globalmediapro batt with the Red charger?
I forgot my GMP charger and wonder if it's a solution. :confused5:
Regards

It's always a bit risky, with LiIon technology especially, to try charging with off brand chargers.

If you're really stuck, you could give it a try, but I wouldn't leave it charging unattended at all, or somewhere where if it all got really hot it could set fire to anything! So certainly not on carpet, or near curtains or anything flammable! Of course the Red charger may not even accept the battery. If it seems to be working, then keep checking nothing is getting too hot.

In the end, it's a definite risk, and I'm certainly not recommending you do so!!

Hopefully, someone who's already tried it can chime in.

We've been using globalmedia pro batteries on the red charger and red batteries on globalmedia chargers for over a year now. Never had a problem.

I used GMP batts (modified by cutting an internal wire) on the Red charger and all seemed to be working fine. Of course, with GMP batts you do not have the % of battery remaining displayed on Red One.

Just out of curiousity could you share more info about the mod Pawel?

Do I cut the Red Wire or the Green wire? (kidding) - just curious about what to cut, and why? Does this apply to all third party Li-ion batteries?

You need to cut the black wire, there is no green wire inside

You need to do this to the older GMP "non RED" batteries because the camera
would not boot up with them.

The purpose of cutting the wire is to isolate the 3rd pin in the V-mount.
