I am looking to purchase a steadycam and vest for my Scarlet X and Zeiss CP.2 Compact Prime lenses. I have been reading a lot of post on the Glidecam HD4000. According to the description of the HD4000 in the B & H website it is for weights of 4 to 10 lbs. With the lenses on, I believe my set up weighs more than 10 lbs. Or I am pitifully weak. :) Yet I see a lot of people on this forum use the HD4000. That said I am looking for the best steadycam and vest for under $2000 that can handle the weight of my set-up

I would love some recommendations.

Thank you Gary

Don't waste the money; get a vest/arm that can support 15+ lbs. (even that might be pushing it).

Even when you use a battery belt, and the camera is just lens, EVF, and SideHandle, the camera weighs 10lbs+ and the HD4000 won't support it. Better still, just weigh your camera kitted out to your preferred bare minimum... If you're within 3lbs of the weight-limit, you're too close.

Conversely, if the next step up (a stabilizer that can support 15+ lbs) is too expensive, it may be cheaper and more functional on set, to buy a lower weight limit stabilizer and a 4k DSLR which can be left balanced on the sled the entire day. Just food for thought.

I agree with Mike here.
We were testing a few (sorry forgot model/mfg) and they were rated between 15 and 20 lbs and my stripped down Scarlet with Rokinons was a bit sketchy.

So then the answer is nothing for under $2000. What is the most reasonable option. Do not want to use another 4K DSLR. Purpose of buying the Scarlet and spending all the money on lenses was not to buy another 4k DSLR.

Hi Mike

What would you recommend as the next step up as a stabilizer
