  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Glass at NAB?

Yes please. Trying to find info on the Illumina anamorphics, but nothing online so far...

We saw quite a few lens companies come to our booth today.. our new sensor gained some attention. Lots of new stuff . I have no idea what was publicly announced yet so I will let others comment but it seems like this coming year will be a good year for glass... and some new Full Frame options as well.

If anyone spoke to the Schneider folks about the Xenon FF line, I would appreciate hearing about it. They had announced an 18mm at NAB 2014 and there is still no sign of it; they had also said they were developing a 135mm. It would be good to know their outlook.

18mm and 135mm are slated for Q1 of 2016. That is given there are no delays...

Not RED related, but I think the GH4 releasing a 4:3 anamorphic mode and Vedyra announcing m43 2x Anamorphic three-lens kit for sub-$5k to be really awesome (and awful, as it'll get played out faster than you can say "ultra shallow bokeh and slo-mo-everything").

yes, I am here, but most people call me by my first name :-p

Heh.

Cant find any details of the cook zoom, other than they are working on it.

Yes, They have had to reengineer those lenses. Not even known, at this point, if the 4mm increased length bof the 18 will persist. These are in for complete redesign, which, given the slippage that we have seen in the line, is not terribly reassuring. Nonetheless, the four Xenons I have are quite acceptable, paired with my Duclos modded Tokina 11-16, at this time.

Thank you very much

It will be 5:1 or close to that(EDIT: IIRC on this one).

The exact wide and long are still undetermined.

The speed will be around 3.5, give or take.

It will have the COOKE look.

Also heard that the weight/dimensions will not be all that large, but nothing more, excepting not shipping for...

Thank you very much

Another theory/tidbit about those Veydra Anamorphics is that m43 sensors are 13mm high... MX at 4k is 11.5mm and Dragon at 5k is 13.5mm, so with any luck (and an MFT mount), they should cover both (maybe only 4.5k on Dragon). Pretty rad for Sub-$5k, if you ask me... Optically and mechanically they're bound to better than Lomos that cost almost twice as much each.

EDIT: Bahhh, never mind; the anamorphic mode isn't using the entire active area of the sensor (only ~3.3k by ~2.5k, which is only like, ~10mm... So even 4k MX likely won't be covered).
