  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

German Scarlet user get together

No Patrick, you can speak whatever you want, but if you want to be understood by others, English is a must-go ;-)

I'm reading this thread because I quite often rent gear within Europe, so knowing where the Reds are is useful... By the way, are there any Scarlet German users near the French border ?

Kristin

If I'm not i France, I'm close to it, too: Stuttgart most f the time.

Klaus

Inder? Engländer? Who are you talking about? I'd guess you mean pro aim ... but who is the other one?

Hi Klaus,

please let's stay polite and stick to English – this is an international forum. If we want a German forum, somebody should start one.

Regarding your audio problems: probably your cabling is wrong. This is not your ordinary 3.5mm plug for stereo, but a stereo connector to serve as a balanced input. Plus, it's not less, but more sensitive than your regular line level, without the limiter it clips around 0 dB (775mV), no further headroom, you'd need an attenuator for it if you can't turn down the output of your mixer or other sources.

We tested the audio section of both Epic an Scarlet, and they are actually pretty good, coming close to pure audio devices. There should be no hum with proper cabling. Our tests were done with Arno Wilms, the sound guy from "Das Leben der Anderen" (The Life of Others) and will be published in the next Digital Production (Munich). He's a maniac, builds his own stuff if there's something to improve (like the audio output from the Alexa), and if he mumbles "Not bad" it's the highest praise you'll ever hear from him ;-)

You may want to search for the proper cabling, which has been discussed here at reducer several times. Or turn to Kortwich in Berlin, they co-opeate with Arno.

Hi Uli,
Thank you for answering. I will buy / try other cables this week.

Regards
Klaus

Hey guys, Mannheim Scarlet needs your help!

I don't have the Touch LCD and can't get HDMI to work. Felipe from RED support has been trying hard the past days to solve the issue but somehow the force_preset method won't work.
Only solution left seems to attach a RED Touch and get this going. I was wondering if I could come around to someone in the area (Frankfurt, Karlsruhe etc) and connect your Touch just to enable HDMI output.

It's a pain seeing it just standing around.

I'm in Stuttgart, you can certainly drop by, if no one closer chimes in!
