  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Generic Zeiss CP2 50mm for sale on eBay - T1.4 - $1500

I for one wouldn't buy it.
 
I trust it to be a re-housed Zeiss but I thought I heard that the re-housing was more about looks than functionality. I would say do a good amount of research before buying. The regular Zeiss ZE or ZF 50mm 1.4 is only about $750
 
Checked them out at NAB first hand. They make custom sleeves for the lenses. If they don't have the mold done for your lens, you can send it in and they willl make one for you. The sleaves are pretty hefty. My concern is that on most still lenses the weight may cause some wear on the mechanics. I would feel more comfortable using these mods on strong metal lenses. I should also mention that their price was very competitive.
 
Are housed in metal.
If you already have lens you can buy housing and screw on.
All marks are decorative, there are no points of reference to know accurate focus o iris.

DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING ONE OF THESE... I bought the 50mm 1.4, and couldn't be more disappointed. the best think about it is, I didn't pay 1500 bucks for it, but it, in all actuality is NOTHING but a cosmetic piece of metal on the outside of an already good lens. Totally wish I would have spent the added money toward another Zeiss lens. This was a TOTALLY UNNECESSARY purchase. LOL. But it looks good.
