  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GemiZ

OK boyz,
Squeezed these fast hot 'n sloppy shots off that might be of interest tho. Four frames: all ISO1600, Standard v LL, at RC 2:1 v 8:1
There seems to be a 2 stop difference between the Standard and LL - what you shoot at 1/48 in Standard is the same exposure as 1/192 in LL

No order here - Post-it in shot identifies each:

I'm probably going to live at ISO1600 8:1 so that's where I'll being doing most of my testing. Light here was Hexolux 5600K LED - same as above. Curious to see the diff between these 4 frames. Gotta go! Late!

Zeb,

Thanks a lot! , painting and reinstalling some bathroom cabinets doors currently, just checked in to see what was going on, but will get to them in a hour or two.

Zeb, how about some portraits?

Selfies or stunning female models? One is a bit easier to obtain than the other ;-)

My goal in this round of hasty tests is to crudely understand the noise characteristics of Standard, LL and high ISO. Looking like skin tones won't be an issue when looking at that butternut squash, melon, bread and eggs ;-)

Not seeing anything scary in this most recent round of images from a quick first look. Blacks are pretty much black. You guys see anything weird?

Zeb,

I haven't seen anything weird, hopefully we won't find anything maybe other than the typical Red sensor characteristics.

I guess I don't understand this latest test because by exposing-to-the-right, you're not rating your scene for a specific ISO value at all. So these numbers are arbitrary and quite high. Also, I'm not sure how you went about doing the LL shots, because I can set all three to the same ISO and get the same brightness - indicates that the amount of light hitting the sensor is the same for all three. So really these are all just ISO ~400 ish shots in the end.

Well, if you're letting me choose I'll rather have something like this :biggrinjester:

or this

but selfies are fine too, AFAIC.

Sabovic,

HaHa, ahh...I miss those days when you could video a half naked beautiful women without worrying about the backlash for doing it....those were the good ole days.

Ha Šabović! It's throwback Tuesday. Yep, that one of the first Dragon clips posted. She was a friend and a champ. Let's see if I can get the Band back together ;-)

Aaron, don't read too much into the "tests" I'm posting. If you want real science then get Phil to run full Gemini tests ;-) If you want the daily Vlog Casey Neistat version of tests . . . then I'm your guy. Seriously, there is something in every R3D posted that can be learned if you look hard enough. Agreed tho that there might be repetition since if the light to sensor doesn't change then why should the outcome? As soon as you change anything then that opens the door to a different outcome - even if it's not supposed to be different according to the sales literature. See any difference in the 2:1 v 8:1?

Rand, I don't worry about backlash from posting any tasteful work that has consenting and fully empowered adult participants. To say my friend above, who loves to be nude in front of a camera, should not do so is denying her the ability to self actualize. If fact she is touring Asia currently funded 100% by photo modeling - most of which is Art Nude. She doesn't seem to let other people's insecurities and dogma get the way of her living a kick ass life. Those who self elect themselves to defend the rights of others have a very good chance is being noisy morons who are projecting their own issues on others who don't need or want their "help".

Zeb For President 2020!!

Is That still a Requirement? HaHaHaHaHaHa!!

Yup, you have to Be the Swamp to Command the Swamp. I couldn't make that cut. Waiting for the House of Cards series on the current clownshow we have going on. Remember The West Wing? Ahhh such innocent, principled and optimistic times. Love Aaron Sorkin

Maybe we'll realize it was only a holodeck program kinda like Star Trek "Enterprise" or only a dream like Bobby's return to Dallas.

Yeah, JJ Abrams forward lost the Gene Roddenberry core message of Star Trek. It was never supposed to be a blast 'em up with the military hardware gung-ho support the Troops flick. It was a Cold War response that conveyed that through discussion, empathy and shared values most conflicts can be resolved without confrontation. It also was extremely progressive on race issues giving a Black Woman a place on the Command Bridge thereby being a working woman of color. . . on 1960's primetime TV. But dat Libtard shit don't sell these dayz. MARVEL XXL!!!
