  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We just brought on another person at the manufacturing plant to help get the last minute updates completed so we can get make our deadline. Some parts have been green lit for production since no more modifications are needed for them. We are getting there and we think you will be very pleased with all our extra efforts.

Am I to understand that the Gearnex head is now selling (Filmtools) http://www.filmtools.com/gearnex-gear-head.html for less ($500) than it did at NAB? That was suppose to be the big "order before the end of NAB-one time only super sale" special. Does that mean that all of us trusting souls that coughed up 4 grand in April will be getting a rebate? Seriously?

THANK YOU for bringing that to my attention, absolutely not. I think FilmTools is trying to say it is a pre-order deposit of $1,495, leaving a balance of $3,500. But it is confusing the way it is written now and I will email Stan to have it fixed. Sorry, for any confusion that may have caused.

Why haven't I blogged more......because we have been working like crazy to get the GearNex ready for it's first shipment. We have been updating and working on stuff like better rollers, rocker plate, camera mounting, rocker supports, hand wheels, gear ratios, finger guards, mitchell plate and ball mounts, user adjust ability, instruction and maintenance guide, training video, transmission, options, and much more.

We are very close to having the GearNex the way we want it and hope to share some of it with you soon.

Also, Our new GearNex website is also almost done and should be ready for the public soon according to our web designer.

Even though we may not make it to CineGear in time because of some third party vendors limitations, we are still very excited with the upgrades on the GearNex and we can't wait to show you when they are done.

At NAB we had hoped to ship by June 15th but with all the gear ratio options done for R&D to get the best performance along with some third party limitations, it will be more realistically by July 1st.

We are very close to being done with a product we are proud of and that excites me.

We are going to play that by ear depending on when we feel we have enough orders. Sorry, I couldn't be more exact.

To clarify a few points:
- Do you think there will be anything to show at Cinegear, even if its not a finished product? Filmtools said that would be the case (at least a week or two ago).
- The included gifts will apply to all previously ordered units as well? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Hi Kevin,

We are in the middle of a GearNex transmission rebuild and unfortunately it will NOT be done by CineGear.

As for the case, it is picked out but the foam cannot be cut until we know the final sizes of everything. So, once that is figured out they will be made available.

UPDATE - CINEGEAR in Los Angeles

The GearNex will not be ready for CineGear due to the fact they are all apart for upgrade testing but my business partner, Bret Allen SOC, will be at CineGear tonight and this weekend to answer your questions about the progress and changes. You can meet him at our distributors booth, FilmTools, to find out the latest about the GearNex. Hope they see you there.

Before I call it a night, I wanted to update all of you on our status. We have completed the R&D on the GearNex and have begun production on the first run.

We have spent a lot of time on the GearNex with all your feedback and have upgraded it from what was shown at NAB. We have tested many different gear ratios and transmissions and in our opinion, we have come up with the best blend of performance and longevity.

Although we still have more to accomplish ahead of us, like finishing the Instruction book, we are feeling better about shipping the unit the first week of July.
