I am helping an editor gather all the R3D's used in each reel so they can be conformed in Resolve. Currently he is manually gathering all the R3D files referenced by the offline and giving them to me. Is there a way with RCX to use the XML from FCP7 to collect all the R3D's for that reel and copy them to a folder?

Yes, and it should be described in the PDF User Guide. Instead of transcoding, you can choose to either copy the entire file/folder/RMD or do a select (trim) of the sections used with handles if preferred. Either pricess starts with an EDL or XML import.

Not sure how this is done in Resolve. I don't want all the R3D's for a 2 hour movie in the Media Pool. I want just what I am using for that reel (one reel per project). Then I bring in the XML for that reel.

Remember, it's version 9 we're talking about. When using XML or EDL, Resolve will bring only the images used into media pool. If you do bring all files into media pool, then you'd need to resort your files by use. Then just delete all unused files from media files. You can then create separate folders for each reel and reconform from those separate folders, where you copied cut down R3Ds. It's really pretty flexible and powerful. BM, actually, did pretty good job designing media management in Resolve 9.
Anyway, there are number of ways to do this with new media management in Resolve 9. User manual explains this all pretty well.
