Sorry if this has allready been discussed before, but when I import/export QT proxies into Red Alert, I notice a difference in gammas and/or black levels. Is there something I can do about this to get uniform color in and out of RedAlert? Maybe something in QT?

I'm not certain of your workflow, but the proxy files come in with black mapped to zero, (into FCP) referencing the original R3D. (Do a lens' cap test and you'll see this to be true)

But if you pull the same r3d file into Redcine, that same black winds up at around 10 IRE. (check out your historgram to confirm) If you don't pull the blacks down (via curves for instance) the blacks will come into FCP elevated, just as they appear in Redcine. A correction is needed to pull them down for import into FCP Rec 709, to get them to "look" like the proxies do. (aslo in Rec 709 color space.)

The "Why" of this, I'm not really sure of. I'm testing and looking around.

Proxies definitely looks darker and dull compared to original footage.
But it's no big deal i think because they're only for offline.
