I just got back from the Canon event at Paramount. Very professionally done. Beautiful displays with lots of cameras and lenses. Wonderful panels of people talking about their films from acquisition to post to final delivery. Got to see the new Media Composer (no comment) and demo Premiere a little. Good coffee, okay food, nice bottles of OJ.
But as for the images shown on the big screen?... the food was better. I can absolutely say that footage from any Red camera absolutely, incontrovertibly BLOWS THEM AWAY. There is quite simply no comparison. (I don't even think that this camera bests an F3 w/o S-Log or 4:4:4 just shooting XDCAM-EX w/ a Hypergamma.)
Image wise, these cameras don't deserve to mentioned in the same breath of Red.
To add to all this, I found the new form factor odd and fiddly; like a cross between an FS100 and an AF100.
