So, Game of Thrones, the new HBO show coming this spring based on the epic fantasy novels. I'm very, very excited for this series, as the books are absolutely amazing, and it looks to follow them very closely.

To be relevant to this forum, the cinematography looks fantastic. It looks to fit the storytelling very well, and add to it in the way that good cinematography can.

For those wondering, it was shot on the Alexa, and if you look at any of the behind the scenes footage, you catch snapshots of the camera in use. This is the first major production that I know of to shoot on the Alexa, which is great. Very filmic looking images from that camera.

What is the crowd's opinion on the series? Excited? not excited?

And yes, I know that video is compressed to shit.

I too cannot wait, although truth be told, I'd much rather see George R. R. Martin finish A Dance with Dragons. I've reread the series twice now hoping I'd finish with a release date near enough to bleed right into Dance, but alas...

For those that aren't familiar, A Game of Thrones is the first novel in Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire; One of the most beautifully detailed character rich stories you'll ever read regardless of it being in a fantasy universe or not.

Martin is brutal and pulls no punches; by the end of the first book I found myself off kilter under the initial assumption character arcs were being built as hero and villain, good and evil, which I believe Martin chose to play into up until that one shocking scene that changed everything.

The series is defined in those moments where you truly believe you're witness to a skirmish of lords, servants, and peasants, where no family tie or age or perceived status (in rank, social status, or to the hero, villain status of the reader) should mean anything.

It's incredibly engrossing, thrilling, just wonderful. HBO has such a great track record of producing high quality entertainment over the last number of years, I sincerely hope they do it justice.

Especially Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. I love Tyrion, so complex, so evil.

I love the books, and I am really looking forward to the show.

I am a little worried about the show's longevity though. This looks expensive.

Yeah, I love the books and am really looking forward to it! I was wondering what it was shot on, thanks for the info.

And of course, A Dance with Dragons. People can complain all they want about the want about the wait times for Epic/Scarlet, but we've been waiting for ADoD since before the RED ONE was announced.
