I was just reminded that we did bring it up, but we killed it.. was too hard to do since our monitor path doesnt have the needed resolution for that.

We are not done tweaking the edge peaking...

It's not as simple as just reading every other row and column with a bayer chip as each pixel doesn't hold information for both Red, Green and Blue. Take a look at this page for more information. There are, however, some algorithms that can do this but I'm sure someone has patented the hell out of it :greedy:

That's why I mentioned using little blocks of RGGB. I'm not sure how good/bad the result would be. Perhaps after I get my camera I'll try a test against the footage to see how it would look.

And on a bit of a tangent... algorithms shouldn't be patentable; math and general concepts were never supposed to be patentable. Subsequently software shouldn't be patentable either. Here's a sample of the bad decisions being made at the U.S. patent office.
